ter Marketplace was easily able to order a number of suspected and confirmed counterfeit products online, we set out to discover what Canada's border agency was doing to stop such shipments. 

But a request made under the Access to Information Act revealed that between June 2015 and May 2018, Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) have detained just 69 shipments related to counterfeit goods. 

By contrast, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection made over 99,500 seizures during a similar three-year period.

You don't have to go online to get counterfeit, just visit Value Village, they openly sell fake high end watches like Rolex, TAG and more.

Catching the folks is now next to impossible as many are from China, or the sellers bought from other sellers in China.

Over the years I have brought this up many times, and ebay really tries to limit the damage to it's reputation with the VERO policy, and they actually do listen to folks who point out the counterfeits. Sadly, it's like playing 
"Wack-O-Mole" you shut one down and another pops up.

And for your everyday hobby or seller that's just trying to make a few bucks to keep the lights on and food in the fridge it is next to impossible when someone is selling a variety of items (Used Branded Items) to be an expert on EVERY one of them. On occasion a seller may accidentally sell a fake without even realizing until they get that nasty message advising them of the fact. Calling out the firing squad is not the greatest of solutions.
