Hi everyone -
Happy New Year! I spent it at home relaxing with my puppies.
One of my goals for this year is to engage a bit more personally and regularly, and not always about eBay specific issues. As I've spoken with you via chats, posts and even in person at eBay Open, I've heard pretty consistently that the Forums used to be a fun gathering place. That changed a number of years ago and left things a bit...dry.
I want to bring some of that back, so I'm getting things started and what better way to do that than to show my critters off?
What about you? Do you have any furry friends who help you list, fulfill or otherwise make your day-to-day better? Feel free to share details and photos below!
This is Roxie, a German Shepherd who has the ears of a bat and the neediness of a Daddy's Girl. Sometimes when we're sitting and watching TV she will decide she's not getting enough attention even though I'm cuddling her and actively petting her with both hands. Quite demanding, but so sweet!
And this little Gentleman is Sora, a Border Collie who is quite disdainful of affection (but secretly wants to cuddle, just don't let anyone else know!). His favorite place is always 'near' you, but not near enough to make it look like he's interested.

Adorable! Our family pet was a rescue, she's a portly rabbit named Apple. I brought her home without permission from the Man of the House and now she's eating it. Like, eating our house. The drywall, our sofa, my living room carpet plus the Christmas tree and anything else within her reach. Rabbits keep you hopping! Ahahah.
I posted this photo of her earlier but here she is again, having knocked down a candy cane from our tree and dragged it into a corner to hide and eat because she knows she's not supposed to have it. Although she has a habit of getting into mischief, I'm fairly certain she learned the hiding-in-a-corner-eating-candy from watching me.
I had been finding gnawed candy canes on the floor for days but I thought it was the handiwork of the kids...
Dessert. Apple eats three square meals a day: drywall, rug and sofa

Oh, not at all, lol.
I was good this year and didn't make them their own stockings, though it was hard! I need to get Roxie a new chew toy as she's finally starting to tear through her Kong toy. It's a semiannual event, and getting her to adopt and love the new one is always stressful. She takes to them eventually, but does a little sniffling around for the shabby one.

I don't know why I didn't process this as your pet before @momcqueen! I just thought you had found a photo of an adorable rabbit and used it advantageously.
Apple is gorgeous and definitely looks like a schemer! And the 'hide in a corner and eat candy' technique is a good one, so I can't fault her for that.
I didn't realize rabbits were chewers (gnawers? Nibblers?). My dogs are usually pretty good, except Roxie has an affinity for blankets and socks. Sora prefers to just aggressively lick upholstery, but Roxie has to be watched carefully for any guilty looks as it usually means there are shredded pieces somewhere.

We luckily have the cutest dog in the world (ok maybe I'm the only one that thinks that). His name is Jake as you'll see by his collar. The picture was taken in the summer, just before he turned 15 so he's a senior now and seems to be feeling his age the last while. His eyes are a little bit more clouded these days and he's hard of hearing. It's sad to seem him slow down but he is still a wonderful loving dog.

Love your rabbit Mo!

Look at that little Gentleman @pjcdn2005! What a charmer.
I grew up with smaller dogs and I must say, I miss them at times - cuddling is much easier when they actually fit in your lap instead of just flopping onto you and leaving you pinned.
Sad to hear that he's slowing down, but hoping this means longer naps and lounging for the both of you!

What a pretty rabbit! My daughter had one, he was called Chewy for obvious reasons! He lived with her all through university and then went with her when she moved out west to college. We drove her out to Alberta with his cage on a seat and a load of hay in the back of the truck. It was our own little “hay west” run. 18 years later and I’m still finding chewed up electrical cords around the house.
BTW, once my DD got to AB she never did move back home to Ontario.😟 She married a bull riding rodeo cowboy and lives on a farm with her daughter, horses and fancy chickens.

Jake is adorable - almost looks like a plush toy!

Thanks! 🙂
I’m a proud mama!

At this point we do not have any pets
We live in a apartment and while would love to have a dog we honestly don't believe it's the place for a dog to be. Our place is great we enjoy it but it's small and there is no room for one. We don't feel we would be able to let the dog get the walks and runs one needs It would not be fair
Thought of a cat but our place has sliding doors instead of windows and no balconies. Every once in awhile we see notices asking if anyone has seen a cat It's fallen out of the 6th floor etc sliding doors when open. Don't want to go through that experience
We did have a Budgie for 8 years. At times she appeared on CTS and won one years Cutest Pet Contest That was held here
I was hesitant about having one thought what will I do with it besides looking at it
Her name was Feathers and she was a few ounces of pure attitude but was also a sweet little thing. She ruled the roost
I never thought in my wildest that I could become attached to a feathered being but I did and she became attached to me
She bonded with me early on. Got to the point if I left the apartment she would freak. My other half would tell me she would become very loud fly around the cage and be a total pain for long periods of time. When I came back in I had to go see her first If I did not there was no living with her
Her cage was near the chair I sit on Most of her time was spent on the side of the cage chirping and singing at me
She also watched TV Apparently she loved it. Don't know if it was the noise or the actions on it but we started leaving the TV on for her during the day. Her favorite shows were on Tree House. Not having Kidlets this was a pretty scary channel with all the shows geared for young children. Feathers Also seemed to like Hawaii 5 O she was attached to the front of the cage each time it came on and often became animated
we lost her 4 years ago. Took awhile to get used to not having her here
we are thinking of getting another one and then will have to possibly start listening to Children's TV shows all day once again

have another critter I would love to be around but my other half put the brakes on it quickly
A Pelican. I've become fascinated with them
saw them out in Manitoba and watched them at the Lockport Dam. Would go there after dinner and watch them for an hour or so each night
only had one wish, bring one home with us
na ah could not convince my other half , not a chance

I think feathered friends are lovely @weaversofspeech! I had two society finches for a few years and I loved the way they sang. I never got annoyed by their chirping. The last one passed a few years ago now, and I think of them every now and again. I won't miss the birdseed everywhere though!
I'd be terrified of animals falling out the windows as well - I think that's a good decision not to have one, though a lap-cat would be so nice.
A pelican, eh? Can you imagine feeding one?

the first year we went out there we were driving down the River Road where The Lockport Dam is. I spotted something beside me and there was a Pelican flying beside the car. I was so shocked I went through a Stop Sign *blush
My other half asked what that was about? I said I had a Pelican flying beside me. She knows me well so smiled rolled her eyes and chuckled
couple of minutes later she yelled out "there are Pelicans Here"! I said really and acted like she had seen them first

In The 1970's I worked For a Residential Treatment Centre for High Needs Children North East Of Toronto. They had 12 Group Home Settings for the kids to live in. We had animals all over the place. Cows Horses Pigs Cats Dogs Goats etc
One of the silliest we had was a llama
When Stephen Lewis was Leader of The N.D.P. for Ontario (he was on the Board of Directors of this organization) he had been presented the llama as a gift. He brought it up to the area and it was at one of the Farms.
The llama was called Horns a Plenty and was a pet for the kids and staff
When he was in the Barn he was wonderful Friendly playful etc but when out of that setting he was a Nightmare. Had quite the attitude. He wandered the grounds it was up a hill about a 1/4 mile from the highway and he always stayed on that area. Used to sit on the driveway at the top of the hill and would not move unless he wanted to. We had to plan our travelling time to allot for him stopping access to and from there for long periods of time
llamas have acidic spit as a defense mechanism he would spit at you if you came close and it burned the skin. Funny to watch adults dodging the spit
We finally had had it so donated him to the Peterborough Zoo to be with their other llamas. That lasted about 3 weeks til we received a call from them saying we needed to come and get him. He was to aggressive and was causing Havoc
Cannot remember where he went after that
When Mr Lewis got him he was brought into the Country by The Canadian Air Forces and was delivered to London Ont. A friend of mine went and picked him up. On the way back he stopped in Oshawa to visit his parents and they put Horns tethered on the Front Yard. That did not work well The Police arrived and told my friend he would have to get him out of there. A Residential Area cars going up the street ended up on front lawns seeing him there
