The US postal Service (USPS) is in the process of negotiating a new contract with its Worker's Union ......
https://www.midlandpaper.com/postal-service-american-postal-workers-union-negotiations-extended/
From that link.....
"The United States Postal Service and the American Postal Workers Union (APWU) have agreed to further extend contract negotiations on a new collective bargaining agreement. Although the contract with the APWU expired at midnight Thursday, September 20, 2018, the Postal Service and the APWU have mutually decided to extend negotiations to December 7, 2018."
This action was confirmed when viewing the link to USPS's website.

Welcome to a new reality.
This was found when information about Canada Post's situation was being searched on the internet...
This situation is real.... This is reported on the USPS website.
The contract ended on September 20, 2018. Negotiations were first extended to November 20, 2018. .... Now extended to December 7, 2018.

Once the Canada Post situation has ended, my store will no longer be on vacation, at about December 1, 2018....
and if this USPS situation continues, There will be no shipping to the US. US Buyers have accounted for 25 % of sales for me, so far in 2018.
A USPS strike at this time of the year will be an absolute explosion.in the US
and ... The effect on Canadian sellers where the US is a major part of sales cannot be imagined...
Our Canada Post was enough of a painful experience, and .....now this........................

Just did some reading about the strike in 1970.
The US postal Union can negotiate .... but... is not allowed to strike.
The strike in 1970 was a wildcat strike that lasted 8 days....

CUPW has been without a contract for two years.
And before that was ordered back to work in 2011 without a settled contract.
That's a far cry from three months.
Bob Bossin (semi-retired singer) reported on Twitter than postal workers on Gabriola Island were told to hold welfare cheques until today. Normally they would be delivered last Thursday.

It is with the understanding that the US Postal Union cannot go on strike, means that there is no need to block US Buyers from buying my store inventory.... a new consideration
The importance of USPS to large businesses such as eBay and Amazon, other large businesses and then the many, many, and many more small business would make a strike an extremely difficult option for the Union.
eCOMMERCE Bytes presents Canada Post and USPS negotiations in the same article. dated November 22.
eBay's action in Canada was noted

Not quite. CUPW's agreement with Canada Post expired in February of this year.

As to the issue of welfare cheques, that was also repeated during the debate in the House of Commons. 'Reports' of it which are as of yet undetermined.
