What Do You Think Of My user id? Any Other Suggestions?

Hello I have changed my user id to "bracedout" because I have just invented a special type of brace for carrying bags which is very small and attaches to your belt. Anyhow I have only sold a few on ebay so far in the last 3 weeks,but I have gotten some really great feedback about them,plus some very strong testimonials outside of ebay. Anyhow I am wondering if my userid may be a turn off ,and could actually discourage people from trying my invention. Therefore I wanted to make sure that I am not overreacting,before I change my userid again. Any other names you think may be suitable are certainly welcome. I am thinking about using "belt brace",since that is what it is,but this may sound a bit too geneic perhaps.

The best business names are short and meaningless. You have a very good example at the top of this page...

Think ahead, think big. What happens when you want to market other products with no relationship to the one you start with?

Meaningless means that you can easily change or extend the product range you sell without needing an expensive and disruptive name change.

Short words are more quickly recognised at a glance, take up less costly advertising space, and have more impact on advertisement hoardings and in TV ads etc.

Kodak is a good example of a brand name that was created completely from scratch. It has no intrinsic meaning, nor does it carry associations or allusions to anything else. "A trade name must be short, vigorous, incapable of being misspelled to an extent that will destroy its identity, and, in order to satisfy trademark laws, it must mean nothing...

I remember reading " Kiss & Sell a few years back. Not a business book but one about the glam rock band. The band & management wanted a simple well known word with one syllable & the name "KISS " was born. Like thay have mentioned several times over the years "They are not a Rock n Roll Band, They are a Rock n Roll Brand."  Not sure if that is the exact quote though, but i think its close.

Same suggestion i received from fellow posters a long way back. The KISS, keep it simple principle.

Once i decided on a New User ID, the original was four numbers & brian b & was assigned to me by eBay, i found it very time consuming as the majority of my ideas were already taken as user id's.

Tried Cool Stuff, CoolStuff, long shots i know but thought it worth a try. Those were already taken. Tried BB Cool Stuff, BB CoolStuff along with BB'S BB's & bb's. Denied again.

Tried bb_cool_stuff & somehow this user id was accepted.

I recall someone, cannot remember who, suggesting years ago " You have Cool Stuff, try & use that as a User Id."

Not true. Depends on your name. pierrelebel may not be easy to remember if your buyer is French and maybe for many English in Canada who have exposure to French. Those two languages dominated the country for years. Not today with so many immigrants from other countries now here.

What if you the seller has an ethnic name?

For example, just look at hockey players names for the vast number of different names. Not just the foreign players but the players who are 2nd or 3rd generation Canadians whose parents are originally from non-english or non-french countries. It is difficult to know how to spell or pronounce the names I see on TV in games.

The names of some people I know would be impossible to remember for many people let alone spell.

Buyers may have trouble with sellers real names. Buyers come from various backgrounds and nationalities so other ethnic names for sellers may be difficult to remember.

God knows my intention is not to discourage you at all..

 but in my opinion it looks too simple,any body who does not mind a heavy weight tugged to their belt/hip ,can make it themselves and save $3 .($2 for the cost of buying the individual items).

When people are introduced to a new invention they a look at it with great skepticism but might give it a try if  the price is low enough that they can throw it away if it did not work,

I'm 59 years old and after looking at your video clip I'm not convinced having extra weight attached to my belt is less painful than carrying it .when My wife and I come back from grocery shopping she always carries the bags one or two in each hand and reminds me to always equalize the weight when I carry them so we don't loose our balance.

Your item does exactly the opposite ,it might be better to advertise them in pairs.

Of course this is just my opinion  but would say the same thing if my own son had come up with your idea.

I think I have already explained that it is very hard to find the kind of belts that will be comfortable at all. Im not just saying this it is true,now I am going to have to start importing them myself from China. Anyhow people still need ratchets which are $4 for a tiny bag,and they arent to be found just anywhere,for most people a fair amount of travel is neccesary to find all the 3  things needed. The belt itself also costs a minumum $5 ,Ive seen them at a few places for $15 ,but I wont pay that much. Only some dollar stores have the clips ,dollarama doesnt. Anyhow of course I was also talking about making it wthout ratchets which would be even better,and this isnt something anyone could do themselves. I hope I finally put this myth,that people will make them to save a few bucks, to rest now.

I can assure you it is much easier,since the muscles in your legs and hips are much stronger together than the muscles in your one arm and shoulder. It may take a little bit of getting used to perhaps,but then again,nobody has even told me it has,  Not one person has said they havent liked it yet,Ive only heard very good things,and there are at least 30 people out there now who have one ,or two.

This is so not necessary,In fact I would argue that it is much easier for our brain to concentrate on one thing at a time. The brace makes it easier for us to keep our balance when we walk,simple by making the load feel much lighter,and so we can stand a bit straighter,and believe me I feel perfectly balanced enough even with a 30 lb dumbell set. Did you not read where I said I carry it up the stairs nearly every morn,and did this for about 50 flights yesterday? The reason I dont know the exact number is because I will walk up several flights then when I get tired I will walk out into the hallway,down to the other stairwell,then up several more stairs and so on. I will then walk down several flights when I get to the top. In my opinion this is the only way to climb stairs,that is when you get tired just stop climbing for a few minutes while you walk to the other staircase This way you give your legs/lungs a chance to recoup so you dont hurt yourself ,or worse have a heart attack.

perhaps that may be the case without a brace,or braces ,because carrying bags without them can put so much strain on the shoulder you really cant feel very in control of what you are doing,especially when the bags are very heavy,and you have a long way to carry them. Therfeore in this situation balancing the load certainly would seem to add some control to the situation I agree.

Here's a couple of websites which generate random names - try any you fancy in Google and see if it has already been used.  If it has, try variations on the name.

And check that a business name you fancy does not have some objectionable or inappropriate meaning in a foreign language...

Mass produce or save yourself now and give up on it.. I mean it is not a horrible idea it is just well junk tied together with nothing medical backing what your claiming doesn't help either even though i can see how it might give some relief but having anything tug on one side of your body is no good for your back,spine and hips so as much as it might help the shoulder it really screws up alot of other things.. .."

I cant stop thinking about the audacity of this post.especially since I have already spoke about how much it has helped me and others as well. As I said earleir the legs are so much stronger than the one arm that is holding onto the bag,that of course they can handle the small amont of weight being deffered to them. It isnt even as if they have to support all of the weight of the bag or whatever being carried. I would estimate it is about half,since that is just how it feels to me when I am carrying something. The arm certainly still does have to do some work,so when I carry something heavy like my dmbell set of course I can still feel there. I never get soreness or the feeling like I have pulled any tendons in my legs hip etc.

  Frthermore to sggest that I give up on it because you think I will be losing money on it is just so wrong it is unbelievable. Perhaps when I accont for my time I am not making much,but I have said it only costs me $2 to make,and I am selling them for $5 . I can make about 10 per hour at least,so 10 x $3 is $30 per hour. Of course I still have to do things like get supplies,ship them out ,so perhaps I would make only about $20 per hour which isnt too bad. The thing that really gets me though is that it is so narrow minded to be thinking of what I am doing strictly in terms of profitablity. Even I f I were only breaking even I would likely still be doing it,in fact I am sre I would. This thing has helped me so much to deal with the chronic pain I was in,I feel like it has pretty much saved my life. I was living in hell a cople months ago,maybe not all the time,but at least half the time ,and would even think about ending it all,because I was simply losing hope,and could only see thing getting even worse the older I got, As I said I am so much better now I feel like a totally changed person. Therefore do you not think I might want to try to get this device into the hands of others who may need it as badly or nearly as bad as I did. Since I have to even mention this,I want people to be fully aware that I have a truly overwhelming  desire to do this ,because I know how good it feels to be on the mend so to speak,instead of feeling like I am slowly dying which is like living in hell. I should also point out there are a couple family members who  seem to have a very similar apathetic attitude about this,so it makes me think that people that dont have chronic pain just dont get it at all.  People can easily feel sorry for people who have cancer or aids,or maybe someone who is in a wheelchair or something. However it seems like people who who suffer from chronic pain which is invisible to others are just whiners ,and believe me there have been so many times in my life that I really didnt like talking about my pain,because I felt that others just didnt want to hear about it. Of course there were times that it was just so bad that I had to say something because it would likely be written all over my face that I was not feeling too good. Anyhow things have changed now,and I no longer have to talk about my aches and pains all the time,and I am so excited to be able to offer others the same thing that helped me,so excuse me if I am totally put off when others seem to just completely overlook this aspect of my invention. 

Furthermore this is the first time anybody has ever said it looks like "junk strapped together". Makes me really wonder if you are someone in the medical community,a dr perhaps,who may lose a great deal of business due to the suffering which will be eliminated by this brace .

I should also point out that if that ezcarry thingy can get a drs endorsement,Im quite sure I won't have too much trouble getting one for the brace. A dr who will actally use his name,and quite likely his face too. I just sent one to a reumatoligist in India who might be interested,and will be sending many more out soon to others all over the world. With a product that works as well as this I think they would be fighting over the chance to endorse it if they could.

brace, people are just giving you their opinions. You may want it to be soft and gentle, but maybe they are trying to help you by not seeing you spend a lot of dead end money.

There are many people out there who have an invention and they get very understandably wrapped up in it. However the bottom line is..........is it really saleable?

You may have a nice small cottage industry, but reaching the pages of Forbes is a whole different kettle of fish.

I personally have my views on the item but I'll leave them to myself.

One word to leave you with.....'yoke'. Think about it.

I am totally confident that it is but as I said people have to try it to really appreciate it. Obviously it would certainly help this discussion if people here would try it too,but it looks like nobody is ready to spend $5 for whatever reason. I wish would everybody was here with me right now ,and each person would give it a try,and then everyones would see from their own experience and watching others that this really is something that would be very popular,perhaps not for every application but for most anyhow. As I said the bottom line for me is will it help people?. Even if it only helps 10 % of people but for those people it makes a huge difference then for me I would probably still want to carry on with it,even if I am breaking even,or even if I am losing a bit of money,as long as I dont lose the roof over my head.

  I should have pointed out that the drs I am thinking of are chiropractors,rheumatologists,and maybe physiotherapists since they arent the kind of drs that are pill prescribers,or need to do operations to make money.

 I will be sending one of the braces to walmart tomorrow. Obviously if I can get it in there the playing field will change considerably. I may even send one to the dragons den,since oleary may like to have a look at it even though I cant get on the show.
