over a year of beta testing on .COM (USA) to reach this point.

Average sale volume of beta testers: $100,000 annually.

Second market region (.DE -- Germany) just started beta testing a few months ago.

Some Canadians will jump with joy that GSP (Global Shipping Program) is still not supported by managed payments (probably a legal hurdle rather than technical).

...

Too many unanswered questions this at point in time. Will probably not stop me from selling on eBay -- but looks to make this a less attractive site to sell on. Getting to be too much like amazon.

Re: eBay to Begin Forcing PowerSellers into Managed Payments

I will most likely opt out of Managed payments and will leave eBay completely but we'll see how things turn out. I get roughly 5-10 new users a week  joining my website and I've had only new 2 followers on eBay in the last 6 months.

That speaks volumes to me.... and I'm not even on social media yet!

My question:

What will happen when Managed Payment world collides with the non Managed Payment world? Could be like playing a Trump card at a go fish tournament!!!

Re: eBay to Begin Forcing PowerSellers into Managed Payments

With 90% of my items moved elsewhere, I will be ready to exit eBay when the time comes...

and even though I know these other lesser selling venues aren't going to suffice, at this point it really not matter much as sales on eBay these days are few and far between.

I'll stick it out with eBay until eBay says "Managed Payments or Else"...

I'll be taking the "or else" road and closing my eBay account.

Amazon uses managed payment (only called differently), and does quite well in the world doing that to their Sellers.

Yes, but how will this new fangled system work with Paypal until everyone is switched over? Will the 2 systems be tripping over each other?

For Buyers no effect at all -- they can still use paypal to buy.

For Sellers it looks like you are either IN or OUT, no blending. When you get switched over, all your current and future listings are switched over automatically (with no effort by the Seller).  Old pre-switch sales are handled under the old rules (as they exist now).

One of my unanswered questions: can PayPal be treated like a bank for Seller payments?
