I have a business in Ontario that is HST-registered.
I understand that eBay is considered my agent with respect to HST collection, i filled up the form (GST506E) that Ebay asked for, because Ebay collects the HST on my company's behalf.
My question is, what does eBay do with the money?
Does eBay remit it to the CRA, crediting the seller's HST account automatically? If so, how long until the remittance is reflected in my HST account? OR
Do they remit on their own behalf? OR
Do they issue a voucher to seller to remit the HST?
Can anybody confirm if their HST account has received a credit for the remittance from Ebay?
Thank you for your help.

They apparently remit it under their own numbers. In theory the CRA is both aware and expecting this, so hopefully there won't be any issues. It shouldn't show up in your HST account at all.

Could you confirm this? It's a reasonable question and @flipistics answer sounds right.
I notice this has also been posted to velvet@ebay ' s thread on the same subject.

Hi @reallynicestamps! I have reached out to a specialist on this and they said:
"eBay collects and remits all Canadian taxes to the respective government authorities on the seller’s behalf for all sales made intra-Canada."

The op was wanting to know if ebay actually tells the tax people that the tax was remitted for a sale by xx seller and I don't think that is what is done. Saying that ebay remits it on the seller's behalf makes it sound as if the CRA knows that it was collected for that particular seller. But afaik ebay does not specifiy who the seller was....correct?
