So ebay is going to make buyers pay tax on used items(which were already taxed) which it then makes part of the total of the sale for sellers. Then ebay charges their fee based on the sellers total( taxes included) plus charges tax on top of their fee, and then is going to report every sellers taxes as well as it's own to the government whether a seller has to claim those taxes or not. Call me crazy but that kinda sounds like someone might be getting screwed and it isn't ebay. This is starting to get beyond ridiculous and ebay needs to start reeling it in with it's micro management policy.
After their latest update the category i sell in had it's fees raised to 12.9%. Now that plus the annoying $0.30 per order fee and the taxes ebay adds to the total of their fees makes their cut more than what would be charged for taxes. Where i live the tax rate is 13%, so if you were collecting the tax yourself it's almost like getting taxed twice. Also i don't understand how they've been getting away with this BS of charging on shipping if you don't even use their services or the shipping cost solely covers the cost to actually ship that item and there isn't any profit made from it. Or charge fees on taxes you might've collected which isn't income and has to be paid to the government. Although i would agree that if ebay were to take care of all tax related matters for sellers than they would somewhat deserve to be paid the outrageous amounts they already charge for their services. That being said though i have spent numerous hours multiple times trying to get an error that ebay had made corrected by customer service only to passed from agent to agent before having the conversation be ended and left empty handed! Now If i can't trust ebay to properly handle the transactions then why would i think that they could handle all that and now everyones taxes on top of that !?
It's about time everyone just stants standing up against this kinda corperate **bleep** from ebay instead of bickering amoungst ourselves on the community forum and letting them get away with whatever they want! If ebay wants feedback on how to improve the site then how about incorperating some sort of compensation meter when you have to contact customer service lol? Ebay must realize it costs sellers valuable time and money everytime we have to contact them and really we SHOULD by all means be able to bill ebay for the time wasted when not receiving services that they charge for. So the longer it takes to resolve an issue the more the meter is running kinda like a cab lol. Gauranteeded any issue that they got contacted for would be handled instantly everytime if that was the case. But like someone else on here had said that "it's only a matter of time until someone comes up with a new platform identical almost to ebay except people could actually make decent money using it" and ebay will just be left with it's head in the oven

You seem to be a relatively new eBay seller compared to many of us who have been here 20+ years, so perhaps you don't know that many sites tried and many sites died trying to be like eBay, so that idea of "it's only a matter of time until someone comes up with a new platform identical almost to ebay"... is dead and buried.
sorry to burst your bubble, but that has been said time and time again ,and no site and I mean NO site has been successful and NO site will ever be sucessful with that attempt...
That just isn't going to happen...eBay is still here and there is no site to take that on in today's environment.
No one out there is about to be that ruthless to take that kind of risk in such a volatile environment....
unless of course, you are that someone, that ever so wise, ever so knowledgable, ever so rich with deep pocket backers to make that ever so grand attempt at that ever so desirable endeavor.
Good luck!

ebay is going to make buyers pay tax on used items(which were already taxed)
Sales taxes are on the transaction, not on the item.
Apparently you have never shopped in a thrift store or have never purchased a used car.
Even re-sellers purchasing at wholesale are charged sales taxes on the purchase of merchandise. Then the sale is taxed again when the customer buys.
ebay charges their fee based on the sellers total( taxes included)
Yes.
This is Standard Practice in the financial industry.
When we paid our fees for our merchant credit card account (we retired and closed our shop after 35+ years) our payment to Moneris was calculated on the entire payment processed, not by line items.
the category i sell in had it's fees raised to 12.9%. Now that plus the annoying $0.30 per order fee
For the record, Paypal also charges a 30c fee per order. Because PP fees were separate from the eBay fees, most sellers never noticed them.
and the taxes ebay adds
That theCanadian Government adds.

Shipping is not supposed to be a profit centre for sellers.
agent before having the conversation be ended
Two points here.
