I encourage everyone on ebay.ca to carefully check their ebay invoice now that ebay is charging the GST.
On my September 2017 ebay invoice the last few lines read as follow
The invoice states 5% GST as expected.
The problem is 5% of the taxable amount ($401.19) is $20.06, not $32.59
As you can see, ebay charged me $32.59 in tax, which is 8.12%, not 5%. ie, they over charged me $12.53 in tax!
I first notified ebay about this problem a little over 3 months ago.
I have phoned them several times since.
They have not fixed it.
I wonder how many other unsuspecting Canadain ebay members have been scammed in this way?

I would suggest that you raise this with ebay staff at the Weekly Board Hour which opens Tuesday evening to take questions for Wednesday answers.

Perhaps it is a province specific issue?
...
I pay 13% HST and all my invoices back to July have the correct 13% taken off.
...
This type of error will only effect the pocketbooks of those who are not GST registered. If GST registered the overpayment is recovered by the seller.

Mine are correct too with 5% in Alberta. Both posters who have the problem are in BC so you may be right..that is is province specific.

It may also be batch specific error -- start of month invoice vs mid-month invoice.

My GST on Seller Fees is correctly tabulated but, inexplicably, my invoices fees for January rose $40 overnight. Yesterday, the balance due was one amount and today it is another. (And, yes, I do know the difference between to-date balance due and monthly bill balance due.) I'm speaking specifically about the amount owed for fees for January not the running total amount.
