Re: April 22 2020 Weekly Session

Hi Tyler, this is a "just incase" question regarding the eventual arrival of Managed Payments here.

As you know, I have a very large number of grandfathered items (3,059 at the moment), particularly to do with item specifics (which for the types of stuff I sell, generally groups of items the required specifics do not add value anyway so there is no impetus for me to go update them).

I did some MP research and it says:

"Sellers do not need to do anything to enable new forms of payments for buyers."

I simply want to confirm this is true for grandfathered items too. This statement was issued before item specifics were required in my categories, so I simply want to make sure it still is accurate.

THX for your help as always and have a safe, great day!!

About Managed Payments.

We sell on both sites in both currencies.

At this time we are depositing our US payments into RBCBank, which is a US bank affiliated with the Royal Bank of Canada, and our Canadian payments into a Canadian bank.

While being forced into using just one Canadian bank would be annoying, being unable to use our US bank account would be infuriating.

And vice versa.

Will Managed Payments insist that sellers who use multiple banks choose just one bank, just one account in one bank, just one bank and only in one country?

Re: April 22 2020 Weekly Session

I'm in the middle of a return and the sellers says they can't create a label.

I've been in this position before. It's like a catch 22. If I can't get the seller to pay for shipping does eBay have the ability to force a refund of funds used to send items back?

Amazon gives store credit in situations like this, which is certainly nice, and doesn't hurt future sales.

I'm going to reach out to the seller, but if they won't provide funds, am I basically forced to pay or else forfeit my return?

Hi Tyler,

I realize you probably won't be able to answer all of the Managed Payment questions can you confirm that they are taking into account that Canadians have some unique situations that they didn't have to deal with when setting up US sellers for MP.

For example, many of us list on both .com and .ca so deal with 2 currencies. Unlike Femme many of us do not have a US bank account so our $US payments are converted into Canadian funds when we transfer money from PP to our bank account.  How is this going to work in MP?

@retroman_studios

Try directing your seller to Shippo.

They may have to sign up, but they can send a Canada Post label from there just as we can send a USPS label.

Hi @ricarmic - my understanding of the way this will work will be that the transition does not count as a listing revision, meaning your currently grandfathered items will be okay. I'll see if I can get official confirmation of that and sync back up with you when I hear back.

Hi @femmefan1946 - as a clear and up front disclaimer: details about the way managed payments will work for Canadian members will be coming over the course of the next few months. I don't have all the details right now.

With the US program only one bank and one account can be used for sending Payouts.

Hi @retroman_studios - if it's for a not as described reason the seller should be providing a label or method of return shipment. If they aren't able to I'd suggest contacting Customer Support.

To answer your direct question, we do not have a way to reimburse you (or force a seller to reimburse you) for return shipping costs you incur if the seller does not provide you means to return.

Please consider contacting CS so they can review and get you your best options before you pay to have it returned.

Hi @pjcdn2005 - I wish I had details to share with you on this, but I don't at this point in time. I can tell you that I've passed these types of situations on in the past. I know that we have a great product team that is working to make sure that the uniquely Canadian situations are taken into account when planning and preparing managed payments for launch.
