I was quite concerned a few days ago when I saw "Add required item specifics: 3,149" in the tasks section of my seller hub!
So far, running GTCs are allowed to keep rolling over without item specifics. Any revisions etc require item specifics to be added, but if no changes are made they are "grandfathered".
I was worried that them showing up on my task list meant that the grandfathering was/soon over but this line in the spring update leads me to believe the grandfathering will persist:
"For the past year, we’ve rolled required item specifics in a number of categories. You will need to add required item specifics to new and revised listings or you will not be able to successfully publish them."
The item specifics grandfathering will continue is what I want to confirm. Losing the grandfathering is a "disaster" to me as I can't en-masse change them (unless I could figure out a way to group some of them its like 150 hours work to add 99% of the time meaningless specifics to my items). If there's rumors about when grandfathering will be ceased, that would be good to know too so I can try to do some sort of pre-planning for it.
THX for your help on this!

What Happened to the A to Z Help Index ?
Near the bottom left of the site map page that I am linking to is a link that used to take you to an A to Z Help Index where we could look up rules and policies.
https://pages.ebay.ca/sitemap.html
This was useful for posting links to specific articles when answering questions on this board.
That link now goes to a search page where you have to search by key words.
I do not find this as helpful.
Was it removed deliberately or is it an error of some sort ?
Thank You

Hello Tyler,
Is there a procedure anywhere properly explaining the best way to refund where US state sales taxes are involved. Especially in cases where it is a partial refund. The taxes are technically forwarded and out of our accounts by the time a seller attempts a refund. The tax would be, in certain cases above and beyond any agreed upon amount. It's similar to shipping. They are all technically separate line items. (Also of note a seller would not know what % was involved without investigating)
See US post example attached. Post 6

The Canadian shipping supplies store is looking sad, very sad. I am a bit tired of stockpiling boxes and envelopes I am quite sure I will never use. My guess is I am not alone in this.
On occasion I come here to ask about the possibility of receiving a store credit in lieu. If I am not mistaken, I think I am even still waiting for Ms. Stairs to respond to my question from 2019's "Ask The Poobah" session.
In my case, more than happy to accept $70 store credit instead of a $210 ship store credit. Whats that? $65? Fine. Deal. When will that begin?

Hi @ricarmic - yes, listings that are Good Til Cancelled are 'grandfathered' - meaning as long as you do not revise the listings you would not be required to update the required item specifics. If (or when) you do revise a listing you would need to update the required item specifics then, as well as when you create a new listing from scratch.
There are no plans to change that process, but I still think it's definitely worth updating your listings piecemeal just to maximize exposure for them!

Hi @strange*highways - this was a deliberate removal. The A to Z index linked to outdated policies and pages, and with the roll out of the newly reformatted Help Hub pages the decision was made to retire that as a search feature. Thanks!

Hi @lotzofuniquegoodies - @silverpinups gave a good resource, whenever possible you should issue a refund through an eBay initiated process (returns, cancellations, etc).
If you choose to issue a refund through PayPal directly, you need to include the tax portion in the buyer's refund. That will trigger an immediate refund of that tax amount from eBay to your PayPal account.
For example, if you are doing a PayPal initiated partial refund for $3.00 of the item cost, you would need to also include the tax based on the rate. If the rate was 7.2%, then the partial refund total would be $3.22 ($3.00 for item, $.22 tax).
For a full refund, the you would need to include the tax, but wouldn’t need to manually calculate. You would just need to issue the ‘original payment’, which includes the tax amount.

Hi @snoopwiz - I'd love to see different types of products available for sale in the shipping supplies store, but I'm not aware of anything new making its way through soon.
There are no plans to offer a credit in lieu of the shipping supplies coupon.
