I'm a new user, but I want to be able to sell some of my climbing and skiing equipment and this is really frustrating! Can anyone tell me what is going on with my first item up for almost 2 full days and not yet indexed?
Thanks!
Brad.

Do you see your listing in my eBay or sellers hub active listings?

I do see it as an active listing, but doesn't show up in searches even if I search by the item number.
Thanks.

It takes 24 hours or more for your first item to show up. Give it till tomorrow.
I see you signed up March 1.
Has it been 24 hours since you pressed the list now button?
I remember for me it was like 26 hours before my first listing to show up.

It Shows up now. Just be aware that if that sells for your starting price or more, as per ebays rules you need a signature on any package over $750 to protect you if a claim should arrise. Good luck

I hope the belay (?) sells quickly, but be aware that new sellers with high value items are red meat for scammers.
If an offer comes in for payment with Paypal, be cautious. While PP can be used by buyers there is no need to consult the seller about that.
If you get any communication that mentions texting, that's a red flag. Keep all messages within eBay Messages. You can attach pictures.
Speaking of pictures, do you have any pictures of the thing in action? From a catalogue or the like?
Most important, are you registered for Managed Payments?
EBay stupidly allows new sellers to list without making sure that they can transfer your payments to your checking account.
You need a checking account in a Canadian bank, and secondary identification. I used my passport and DH his driving license.
In any event, your customer's payment will be Held against your performance for 30 days. During the Hold, you can buy shipping labels (usually at a discount) through eBay with the Held funds.
Then they get transferred to your checking account on the next Tuesday.
It's not personal, and your payment will arrive.
Also, you currently have a limit on the value and number of listings you can have. When that Auction expires in seven days (from listing not from visibility) that's probably it for March.
Your next listing will be in April.
You can have your restrictions eased by contacting eBay every 30 days.
https://community.ebay.com/t5/Selling/How-do-I-contact-Customer-Support/m-p/32016431#M1783851 -> Automated Assistant, type AGENT -> enter. You will then get more options.
Auctions are less than 15% of eBay transactions, but eBay keeps defaulting newbies into them because auctions are their brand.
And the old hands avoid them knowing that today's consumer wants Instant Gratification.
So until then, do some buying to learn the eBay experience from the customer's perspective and to build your feedback, which is not used by eBay to assess your account, but is used by buyers (and scammers trolling for naive suckers).
From what DD, a hiker and climber tells me, socks are always good. And she has developed a love for cashmere for lightweight warmth.
Best wishes and come back if you have any other questions.

Wow you are starting with a high value item. I admire your bravery.
Beware of scamers who ask to text to discuss shipping and payments.
You can avoid this by turning on "require immediate payment" you can find this at the very bottom of your listing in edit mode under payments click on Payments managed by eBay and check require immediate payment.

@kenneth686321 Unfortunatly Auctions don't have the Immediate Payment Required option.
And if Best Offer is accepted on a Fixed Price listing, IPR is also not possible.
Good advice on Fixed Price listings though.
