Buyer from hell Partially returns an item Threatening with a negative feedback

Really need help with this  (Item # 111348260423)

Buyer purchases my fully tested motherboard.

Buyer then claims that it has "GPU damage" - shows me a pic of the board working but he has wavy lines now showing.

I explain that the board did not do that when sent but he is all hot and wanting a refund.

I accept and tell him to send it back and will refund him in full.

When I receive the motherboard he has removed several key components such that I cant possibly even power the board up now.

The heatsink is missing, fan is missing, and an optical connector is missing.

I ask him to send these parts and he refuses saying that he has sent me everything already.

Now he is threatening with negative feedback unless I refund him right away.  He has also been really rude on every email.

I realize that he has probably caused this damage himself for some reason but now without the missing parts I have no way to tell if there is even any damage there.  I'm quite sure his "problem" was not related to the motherboard.  Anyhow its looking like I am now out a motherboard, shipping costs, and getting a negative.

I checked ebay policy and it does not look to me like a "feedback extortion".  Does anyone have any advice that might help here?

Well, you know best.

Good luck.

Thank You.  You are correct.

I'd also like to add that another option has just been added for buyers to contact sellers about returns without opening a case first.

Brand New link.

They seem to change the options daily.

That said:  I have doubts about using it.

Problems arise when sellers don't describe all the damage to an items, either by accident or design.

Buyers are then forced to pay hefty shipping costs for returns with tracking.

Just how nice is one inclined to be when that's already a very unfair situation?

Never easy to deal with and the majority of sellers are not inclined to co-operate.

The return sentiment is why should the buyer then be "nicey-nice" about it in response.

"the majority of sellers are not inclined to co-operate."

???

That is a rather unfair statement,  painting all sellers with the same brush. I am confident the majority of eBay sellers are in fact quite willing to co-operate with buyers when there is a problem.

Really?

I didn't paint ALL sellers with the same brush so please don't say that I did.

There are handful of sellers who post here regularly who seem quite reasonable, and every time I encounter one like that in real life I'm pleasantly surprised.  They are not the norm.

Haven't you noticed that :

"the majority of sellers are not inclined to co-operate."

when it comes to accepting returns gracefully?

I know you've been reading the posts to this board.

The evidence is here in black and white every day.

Buyer receives item NADed. / Seller insists there was no damage / Tells buyer to return item and buyer's expense /  Buyer is stuck between a rock and a rock place /  Either sucks it up or pays for expensive shipping with tracking for return of damaged item which was clearly NAded and bought in good faith..

(As Judge Judy says:  No buyer is going to buy something in good faith and then go to all the trouble of initiating a return unless something was very wrong with item.  I agree with the Judge.)

Very Common Scenario.

How is that co-operation?

Just for the rocord : Judge Judy is not a judge. She is an entertainer.

Sheindlin passed the New York bar examination in 1965, and became a prosecutor in the family court system. In 1982 Mayor Ed Koch appointed her as a judge, first in criminal court, then later as Manhattan's supervising family court judge in 1986. (Wikipedia)

Her TV career began in 1996. She has been on TV longer than she was a judge. And was a prosecutor longer than she has been on TV.

not sure what to say. it's common knowledge ebay always sides with the buyer.

i once sold a gpu an international buyer returned after 45 days (i thought there was a time limit) that they somehow got around, claiming it was defective. they obviously didn't troubleshoot as i instructed bc i resold it again at a steep discount and the new buyer was happy.

you'd probably rather take the loss than get your account suspended. i always advise new sellers to account for a 10% loss due to unscrupulous buyers and misc. reasons like postage loss.
