Current state of eBay

Hello devon@ebay

Just a question out of general concern. As of late there seems to be a reluctance of eBay addressing known issues and being more interested in modifying parts of eBay that were working fine. For any seller or buyer that is having a problem they need to have confidence eBay is working properly and/or when it isn't it will be fixed/addressed in a timely manner. The eBay status bar is in place but it almost never denotes when there are issues of substance with urgency. As for the questions that are put forth in the various boards, there is maybe a "it's being passed on to the correct department" but rarely ever any proactive follow up. Unsure if the responses are only going to the OP but in many cases it will be others the problem is affecting so they need to know (be kept in the loop) also or the net result will be more sellers and buyers just going elsewhere.

Recent examples that comes to mind but there are many more ongoing examples.

And the previously mentioned Fedex having a non functioning shipping calculator. Makes it extremely difficult for Canadian sellers to offer Fedex without havin a calculator to help level the playing field with US sellers.

A good professional practice is to post all information about the system status. Ebay does not.

Here I tried to refund a buyer, who paid twice for the shipping. I get an error. Contacted the support, they confirmed it doesn't work since 2 hours. Why they just not post that info on their website?

Here an example how a responsible company handles such a situation. VPS being down is very serious, and they are not afraid of admitting they have a problem.  Ebay - please post info on a system status page - people will stop to call your technical support if they can find an adequate info there.
