I need help with a lost package sent Expedited Lite. I've read all the other posts on this topic, which basically confirm the claims process is not clear.
Seems like most of you have submitted a claim through Canada Post directly, then got a message that they can't reach the buyer to confirm non-receipt, so they cannot approve the claim.
Has anyone been successful with directly filing a claim on Canada Post with an ebay purchased label?
If so, how do they refund an individual that didn't purchase the label or the insurance (their transaction is with ebay)? Does the refund go to ebay and then ebay refunds the seller?
Yes. I've had one claim denied (CP said the buyer told them they received the item, but the buyer told me they specifically told CP they HAD NOT received it). I gave up on that one.
Recently (in the last 2 weeks) I've had two successful claims, one for the shipping cost due to a (very) late delivery and one for a lost item. They refunded me for both by cheques which were mailed to me.
I wouldn't include the email address in the claim (the eBay generated ones probably can't be used by outside sources, so the email might bounce). Just include the phone number.

Great, thank you!
Strangely when CP labels print for Canada the phone number is omitted. It displays(posts) on international shipments. If you purchase a CP product at a depot there is a field for phone numbers. eBay has chosen not to include.
According to eBay help the email addy in order details (ebay generated) is supposed to work for all systems and not supposed to cause issues with mail being sent and received. Maybe not as "foolproof" as eBay believes. Possibly due to filters etc. Just would be good if if they could go back to normal email addy's. This would cause less problems.

I had this same problem where they say they can't reach the buyer and won't pay the claim. I also have a stack of unpaid claims . I shipped with tracking and paid for insurance. Any idea who I can complain to?

This is still a major problem for Canadian sellers. As per ebay help the ebay assigned addresses should work with couriers and the post office. The impression that is being received is they don't. The shipping systems need a valid way(s) to get a hold of customers to process/complete claims like damaged etc.
A procedure is still not anywhere officially in ebay help on ca.
Note: A valid email addy has been required(mandatory field) when shipping by courier for years. Info that is now also posted on international postal websites to ease customs clearance.
