eBay's best Indian programmers are busily working as we speak. They will have another batch of useless cosmetic changes ready to implement tomorrow.

What good did it do?
I got the usual answer: "Trust us, we know better. We have nothing to back it up but do it our way: we know better!"
You should know better than to try and get a straight answer from eBay on anything. Corporate-speak and obfuscation are all you're ever going to get.

They went down around noon hour EDT and stayed that way for about 5 hrs. It appears to have been a problem with their password server. I have current issues with another website that has not been resolved. My guess is the Russkies are behind it. This cyberwar has been escalating since sanctions have been applied. Expect more outages.

My last order came in at 10:36am Edmonton Time. Attempted to login for first time today at about 11:00am. Displays "Username not found". My listings are gone "Item not found". Immediately checked eBay news, forums, google, nothing. Called eBay at 11:15am, staff cannot locate account. Panic sets in.
eBay called me back around 3:30pm to inform me of glitch, said account should be good in 45 minutes.
Successful login at 5:45pm. Everything ok.
I do appreciate the good service from customer support while I was freaking out

From eBay.com Announcement page:
http://announcements.ebay.com/2014/09/technical-issue-impacts-some-ebay-customers/
Earlier today, some eBay users experienced issues when visiting our site. The issue has been resolved and site functionality has now been restored.
Based on our initial investigation, this was the result of a technical issue that occurred during scheduled server maintenance. While many users were unaffected, we know any interruption for our users is frustrating. And we know that some of our affected sellers may have questions about their selling activity; in the coming days, we will provide them with additional information separately on possible fee adjustments and related seller protections.
We’re very sorry for the inconvenience this may have caused to the buyers or sellers involved.
Sincerely,
The eBay Team

eBay Spends Anniversary Fighting Severe Technical Issues
Pierre Omidyar founded eBay on September 3, 1995, but 19 years later to the day,
no one was celebrating. Instead, many users were panicking, worried their accounts
had been hacked after eBay experienced significant technical issues.

I don't know about you, but I'm finding this oft-repeated "sincere apology" very tiresome.
If they spent more time and energy focusing on making the site function properly 24/7, instead of looking pretty, everybody would be happier.

Some of the items I had on my site are no longer there. I just listed a pair of winter boots recently and I had one in my "unsold" folder that I was going to list and neither are anywhere to be found.
