Good news, your item has been paid for

Selling on eBay for nearly nineteen years (well over 100,000 sale transactions) and this is a new one on me.

A few minutes ago I received an email confirmation from eBay that an item had been sold.  Normal

A few minutes later I received an email from PayPal confirming payment had been received.  Normal

A few seconds later I received an email from eBay stating:

Good news, your item has been paid for

Hi Pierre, Now that you've received your payment of C $14.00, it’s time to pack up your item and ship it out. You selected 1 day(s) handling time, so make sure you send it by Sun, Mar 19, 2017.

Now that is a new one on me.

Who is the idiot at eBay who calculates handling time (one day) and suggests a seller ships on Sunday? I would like to know the name of that employee.

That would probably be HAL 9000:

"I know I've made some very poor decisions recently, but I can give you my complete assurance that my work will be back to normal. I've still got the greatest enthusiasm and confidence in the mission. And I want to help you."

...

Yet another eBay Space Odyssey ...

Yes, I see your point that it the message should have stated to ship by Monday, Mar.20/17

There is no advantage to having same day/one day handling time and will just cause the Seller additional stress and headaches.

Same day/one day handling time only applies to US Sellers who have Top Rated Plus status and if your a Canadian Seller on eBay.com you get the discount regardless of handling time (as long as you meet the Top Rated requirements).

I have a 3-5 day handling time which gives me more flexibility with shipping time and extends my estimated delivery date.

There was a similar post on the .com board last week.  It seems to be a sporadic glitch.

Thank you PJ.  First time I see the message and the stupid time calculation requesting shipping on Sunday.

Things are definitely not getting any better here.  No quality control.

Since 1987, well before eBay, I have always offered one day service to my worldwide customers.  It has nothing to do with eBay.com rules and policies.  It is all about my service to my customers.  No stress or headache whatsoever.  Just business as usual.

And yes I strongly believe many potential buyers would rather see "one day" handling time, knowing their purchase will be mailed within one business day, not three or five.

Apparently a busy employee as they also work for the A-River.

From the A-River's forums:

"went to print some labels for shipment on monday and it is showing next ship date as sunday the 19th ..."

PS - Young readers here may not know of HAL 9000.  Take a look: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HAL_9000

Wow, I haven't seen a 2001 Reference in Ages, Thanx Dennis & Pierre.  Smiley Happy

HAL 9000 had nothing on My Old 286, though The 286, at times, messed with My Mind also.

It is scary that eBay would "think" we should ship our items on Sunday!!  My small local post office closes on Fridays at 5 pm until Monday 9 am (expect Holidays) so it is NOT possible to ship during the weekend.
