Hmm watch out for PAYPAL cases without any notification

Today when I happened to log into my PAYPAL account, I noticed a message that I had open cases against my id.

It turns out there was an open case for a lost package that was opened yesterday! (to the French Polynesia buyer, I'm getting a lot less excited about these not often seen countries because I have had a lot of losses to them so far this year!)

There were no emails, or notifications of any kind to me. I closed the case in the normal way, and again no messages of any kind as a result of that either!

I'm not sure what would have happened if I hadn't happened to log into PAYPAL directly today, it is not often that I go in.... looks like I'll have to log in every other day or something just to make sure I don't miss any....

Looks to be another glitch. 😐 Smiley Frustrated

I don't think it is a glitch. I have had these over the years. Not often, rarely in fact. I guess it depends upon how the customer starts. Most seem to start through eBay and not PP.

I had that happen a couple of months ago. I did get an email telling me about the case being opened about 24 hours after I had already replied to the case.

Hmmm what a confusing system sometimes....

Today I got a PAYPAL notification saying that the case is closed and:

"Any funds associated with this payment that may have been considered "Disputed" are now available for withdrawal."

That is kinda funny because I provided a full refund, so no, actually they aren't available for withdrawal, because they're gone!!

(I did double check to see if they were given back but nope :-|)

The buyer also responded that they are ok to wait, there definitely is a language barrier there, I let them know they don't have to wait they already have their money back (but to let me know if it does arrive so they can pay again).

Hopefully the day is uphill from here......

Hmm watch out for PAYPAL cases without any notification

I had a similar issue about 1 1/2 years ago. A case was opened on PayPal and I got no email or notification. I went into PayPal to ship another item the day after the case was opened and discovered I had a case.

However, I could not do anything on PayPal with the case. I could only see the notice but could not open it. I wanted to issue a buyer refund on my own but could not. I was getting upset thinking I was going to have a lot of BS to handle after reading so many issues in these forums about eBay and PayPal

So I called PayPal customer service. Got an agent who was English (as are most are on PayPal CS unlike eBay), explained my problem, they looked at it and asked if I any proof of delivery. It was sent Light Packet USA so I said "No, it is an inexpensive item and tracking would cost too much. No proof of delivery." The PayPal rep then said that I had such a good record on PayPal that they would refund the buyer and close the case. I had to ask twice what they said because I could not believe it. It was only a $10 or less item with Free Shipping (back when Light Packet USA was $2.48 for 100 grams). The refund was done right away and I could see it in my PayPal account! All done in less than 5 minutes with no wait time for them to answer the call.

So no bad eBay feedback, no eBay bad DSRs, nothing. A day that started out badly became a very happy day.

In the future, I will consider calling PayPal and see if I can get out of the problem if it is a PayPal case and not an eBay case.

Hahaha! Tonight I got the "case has been opened" note! A half a day after I got the notice that it was closed!

Sheesh...that's so bizarre how things like that happen.
