How can I create a return shipping label in Canada Post. Canada to Canada Shipment.

Hi I would like to create a return label in Shippo. But it does not appear to work with Canada Post.  Is there anyway to do it in Canada Post EST?  It likes to keep my return address info when I try it there.  The buyer who wants to make the return is a few provinces over.

Was your original shipping label made through Shippo?

If so, Shippo has your Small Business Solutions number on file, but you may have to re-enter it.

I stopped using Shippo the fourth time I had to open a new account because it decided it had never heard of me before.

The last time I used it was for a USPS return shipping label. (Which the complaining customer never used and therefore lost the Dispute. I was eventually refunded.)

Sending a return shipping label through SnapShip (Canada Post) has been easier for me, although I have to pay for those with my credit card not Paypal.

I'm not sure what you mean by Shippo not working with Canada but you might need to check off Canada Post as a carrier when you are signed into Shippo.

When you did your return label on Shippo, was your original label done on there as well?  I've heard that a return label can be done even if the original wasn't done there but I've also heard the opposite so I'm curious what your experience was.

I had not used Shippo for the original mailing.

I rarely use any label, preferring to use postage stamps.

I can use stamps and still get tracking, if I go to the PO and complete the shipping there, but most of my items go out without tracking.

This was an untracked shipment, but the Dispute was Not As Described.

The stamps I sold were properly described as No Gum, and his Dispute was that they had no gum. EBay told me to send return shipping and I chose a label, because I knew I could get my money back if he didn't use it. Which is what happened and eventually, like over a month later, I was refunded for the unused label.

Yes, my original label was made through Shippo. On further reading Shippo and Canada Post don't appear to be integrated for within Canada returns.

I tried to make a return label on snapship but couldn't figure out how. The return would have been coming from PEI to Sask, but the price always came out like it was shipping within Sask. I didn't want to cause the buyer problems at the post office.

I ended up telling the buyer to keep the item. Lost a few hundred but had no idea what to do. First return.

Works for outbound items , but not returns within Canada.

You can create labels on Shippo even if the items were not sold on a venue such as eBay and that's how you create return labels etc..

It only takes a few minutes to add CPO as a carrier but you have to know how to do it and then it's simple.

It's really just a matter of locating the right "code" to enter when you manually set you account up to perform this task.

Below are instructions on how to do that.

To link your own account go to the 'Carriers' tab by selecting 'Settings' on the left toolbar of your Shippo dashboard, then select 'Carriers' Once you’re on the Carriers tab select the 'Add Carrier Account' button and choose Canada Post from the drop-down menu.

Then select 'Connect your Canada Post account' and walk through the registration process. When you add your account you’ll need your Canada Post API username and password - this article from our Help Center will walk you through locating that information: How to find your Canada Post API username and password

To create an Order, visit the Orders page and click on the Create Order button. Enter the address and package information, then select your rate.

P.S.  That works for shipments within Canada.  

That function should also work for sending items via USPS but you'd have to add USPS as a carrier and I'm not quite sure how to do that (yet).

Perhaps you were missing a step when you relied to do it as I know others who have done domestic  return labels through Shippo.

Hi Everyone,

I have been going through the same issue for years. I needed to create a return label and upload it to ebay. I found the task very daunting. I called eBay and they thought Canada Post operates like USPS and said it was so easy. I asked him if he was in Canada and has he actually gone through the process and he said no. Thus, I knew the answer would not be easy.

Thus, I started the journey with Canada Post EST and yes it only kept my return address as the business and would not let me switch it.

I investigated, Shippo, Chit Chat, and many other shipping integration tools. I even talked to Canada Post directly at the local post office and thought they could the print the label for me, whereby I could scan it and upload. However, this was not possible.

I finally, purchased an Express Prepaid Envelope and mailed it the customer with both having tracking, it cost approximately $35. Meanwhile, the customer decided to response to my message and mailed the item without waiting for my envelopes to be delivered. This was a coin , that was off by 0.02 grams in weight, thus the customer put in a "item as not described". He would not respond to sending a picture of the coin or respond to questions how did you weigh the coin. Whereby many scales have different calibration's.

Anyways getting off topic. I found the following tool at Canada Post. Express Order Entry

It will allow you to enter all the correct sender / receiver information and print a label in PDF. Not sure why ebay Canada does not just provide a link to this tool and a description. It would just make a great customer experience.
