How long do we have to cancel subscriptions

Mine is due for renewal on May 1st, I don't want to be caught out paying the fees if I decide to end my subscription for now. Can I wait until the end of April, or do I need to cancel before then?

If you are invoiced mid-month, then cancel by April 14.

If you are invoiced at the end of the month, then cancel by April 29.

I couldn't find what happens when you renew your subscription, if you can just renew all the previous listings or if you have to list each one again.

It's so hard to know what to do. When they are talking about only mailing essential items, for some of my buyers who will be older ladies having to stay in their homes, being able to purchase craft patterns, yarn etc. is essential to them, but I don't want to be part of overloading the system.

You don't do anything different when your subscription has ended. Your listings will renew as usual under your user name.

Other than one poster on this board, I haven't heard anyone mention mailing only essential items. If I've missed some official notice of that, I apologize.

It's absolutely up to you but if since you should be able to mail your items in an outside mail box you might want to continue selling.  Although it is important for people to avoid contact with others unless necessary, it is also important that at least some of the businesses keep going on. There is going to be a huge economic consequences with this panademic so if we can help minimize just a little that's a good thing imo.

Thanks so much! I want to keep selling, like many of you on this board I am sure, savings are dwindling, and other sales have closed because craft markets have closed. I just want to do the right thing. I just have to purchase a bunch of stamps and I'll be good to go for mailing.

You will receive a reminder notice from eBay when there is about 10 days left in your subscription. I received a reminder today about my April 1st renewal date.

I changed mine to a monthly subscription from a yearly subscription.

How long do we have to cancel subscriptions

I had a sale yesterday that made up my mind, a US buyer who makes doll clothes to sell on eBay and really needed the yarn I was selling. Her and her husband like us are in the danger category. I decided that even if I don't make enough to cover the almost $60 for my subscription fees, I will not close down, there are people out there who need some items, and I am not going to cut them off. Maybe small, but at least I can do my little part.

I would suggest that you consider changing you store subscription from a yearly contract to a monthly contract. You can do that in April with no penalty.

Based on the number of listings I see that you have currently active and comments that you have made in this topic, I believe that you have an eBay Premium store on eBay.ca Canada site.

The eBay.ca Canada store fee per month on a yearly contract is $59.95 Canadian with an early termination fee of yearly contract.

The eBay.ca Canada store fee per month on a monthly contract is $74.95 Canadian with NO early termination fee.  You pay $15.00 more per month to have the freedom to end your store anytime.

* Sales taxes apply to the fees

Here is the help page on eBay.ca stores fees

https://www.ebay.ca/help/selling/selling-fees/store-fees?id=4122

If you renew your store on a yearly contract and then need to cancel it, based on the table in the above page, the early termination fee is $239.80 if you had to cancel it in May after renewing, $219.82 in June, $199.83 and so on decreasing each month until no penalty in next April.

To me the logical thing for you to do in these uncertain times is to switch to a monthly plan with no contract and pay the extra $15.0 per month. Do this for the next few months while you see what is happening in the world. I think is is best to pay extra for a little to figure out what to do long term.

To do this change from yearly contract to monthly is apparently an easy change. It was discussed in another topic and confirmed by tyler@ebay .

Here is another suggestion for you to think about. Consider downsizing your store from a Premium store to a Basic store. This will lower your monthly store cost but you will have to reduce your number of listings from the 1000 included with a Premium store to the 250 included with a Basic store. You will need to end some listings to get under 250 and they will only be kept for 90 days in eBay ended listings. Some planning will be needed to do this. Another trick to get more listings is to consider listing on eBay.com USA to get another 250 free store listings.  So you would have 250 on eBay.ca Canada and 250 on eBay.com USA for 500 total free listings per month.

I know this is a lot to think about. Fellow members will post some comments as they have already done so to help you in your decision as well as others who are wondering what to do.

I would suggest that eBay temporarily give all store sellers the right to cancel their yearly contract without penalty for the next few months. It would spread a lot more goodwill than store fee deferrals which have to be paid one day. Besides how can eBay collect monthly fees or early termination fees from sellers who cannot pay even if they wanted to.

On another note, eBay should not be ending Turbo Lister at this time and extend its life by a further one or two years. This way sellers have a means to save their listings for free for months or years without losing all the hard work that it takes to make listings. Current eBay saves listing online for only 90 days after they have ended.

That would be extremely beneficial and a sign of good faith. A lot of people may cancel their annual in the short term but they will likely come back on a month to month.

Hi @richardcm - there's been no announcement or rumor to that effect, but I'll get it passed on. Thanks!
