I see Ebay has changed/streamlined how they present search results

Maybe i'm just part of an unwanted beta test but Ebay has changed how they present search results, at least in the 'list' view option.    No longer says what country the item is located in, which i guess might be a good thing for us but the annoying part is it no longer says if an item is new or used, so you have to click on each listing to find out or locate the refinement button on the left hand margin and select which you want.  Also, when i select 'price plus shipping lowest first' it doesn't indicate the shippng cost, so you have to click on each listing to find out.  Tres irritating.

What is shown now is the item title, seller name and price.  That's it.   Less cluttered but less info too.  Have mixed opinions on this change.  By my count this is about 12 unwanted/uneeded changes this year by Ebay, a couple of which i have mercifully been able to opt out of for now.  For comparison, I have noticed one small change on Amazon this year and it was pretty minor, not the turn everything on its head change Ebay is famous (or infamous) for.

I am guessing that you are part of a test. Are you searching on .com or .ca?

I tried searching with key words and then by clicking on a category. In both cases I see the condition, sellers namd and shipping cost.  I do only see the seller's location in some cases.

I'm still trying to figure out in which situation I see the seller's location but I do know if I view listing on .ca and I have a Canada location, I will nonly the location if the seller is outside of Canada.

It's similar on .com.  If I am searching with a US address, I will not see the seller's location unless they are outside of the US.

When I look at your listings I see conditon on some of them but not all. When I click on the listings that don't show condition in search view, it says ---next to the condition so you might want to change that.

The one that annoys me is not being able to see shipping details without buying. Only a price placed near the asking price.

As a seller I'm not bothered, because most of my listings are Free Shipping and I have sane and intelligent buyers.

But as a non-US buyer, it's annoying.

the .com search is where i see the change i described initially in my post (ie no 'used' or 'new' anymore in the listings presented in search and no countries at all.  All the listings before had where the item was located, even United States for .com listings.

The .ca search has countries outside Canada and 'new' and 'used' just below the listing title, but no longer has shipping cost when i search by 'price plus shipping lowest first'.

I guess we are all getting slightly different, 'experiences'.  :eyeroll

My routine differ "experience" is with doing any kind of research using search the default appears to be US listings first. If it is something common, more often than not if you choose closest China items show up. Canada seems to be buried most of the time. Doing the same search on Google with tends to bring up "better" more useful results. Not sure of the rational of making what you are looking for harder to find. Does anyone know of way to save your search settings....soooo they don't have to be toggled on EACH time???

Definitely right. Everyone's search experience is definitely different.

Search for a The Plays of Eugene O'Neil under sold brings up a Jeff O'Neill signed hockey card first. 2nd result is a The Plays of Eugene 0'Neill match to my search? Huh? Do items get a bump in search if they were promoted? Hmmm?

If you mean your Item location settings:

From the search results in the eBay app, tap the Filter menu in the upper right. Scroll down until you see the "Customize" option, and choose that. Lockable filters should be the third choice -- tap the toggle to enable and the switch should turn blue to indicate the option is active.

Go back to the Filter menu and select an option such as "Item location". Select "Canada only" (or whichever option you prefer). You should see a padlock icon appear next to the chosen option; tap the padlock to lock the option. The padlock should turn blue (and the shackle should close) to indicate it is locked.

Now all further searches should default to your chosen option until you override that by selecting a different item location, or tap the padlock to unlock that setting.

Try a new search to verify that the results shown have your chosen attribute applied by default.

If you are using a browser, there is no "Lockable filter" option, but if you are using certain desktop browsers you may be able to install a third-party add-on called "eBay item location -- my country only" which can override eBay's "default" item location.

Keep in mind that item location information is provided by the seller, and not all sellers ship from the location they claim as they should. Checking the estimated shipping dates and seller registration location shown on the feedback page as well as feedback comments are all useful for identifying sellers that might be shipping from overseas.

@eburtonlab

On a PC. Only way I ebay. At an earlier point in time settings did save. Expecially when creating listing going 1 to the next. Now you have to watch for bad eBay inputted changes. In reviewing older listings I have found a number with Private listing toggled on. A feature I have never used. What happens with eBay's neverending tinkering under the hood and opting in policies.

A general search of The Plays of Eugene O'Neill seems to produce reasonable looking results for me without using any fancy search tricks:

Sold:

https://www.ebay.ca/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=The+Plays+of+Eugene+O%27Neill&_sacat=0&rt=nc&LH_Sold=1...

Active:

https://www.ebay.ca/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=The+Plays+of+Eugene+O%27Neill&_sacat=0&_fcid=2&_sop=10

I notice if I search "Canada only" for sold listings, however, there are no exact matches, and then eBay provides lots of "items matching fewer words" including comic books and baseball cards.

In that case, it may be better to put your title in quotes when searching to avoid any substitutions:
