Increase in INR cases

Anyone selling and shipping lettermail and noticed an increase in INR cases recently too?

I had only one in 1 year and half and now i just got two in 2 weeks. Both obvious scams. One is someone who asked to cancel a few hours after ordering but i could not because it was already shipped (not marked yet), the claim was predictable. Another is someone who openned early after estimated delivery time. Both without contacting or saying a single word. Both on $20-30 items

Something i noticed over time is that its always people registered a long time ago (early 2000 to 2010) with an high score who scam or cause trouble. They know how the exploit the system. That's really shameful. When i think most sellers are scared of low feedbacks

Just wonder if ever there could be an increase in scams recently, or mail lost (even i'm pretty sure its scams)

Please do not suggest me to ship tracked. On those amounts this is mathematically a loss versus INR cases

There are a lot of reports, but I don't think there are any more than there were five or ten or fifteen years ago.

It should be noted that you are selling trading cards which are a high risk category.

Did you offer to refund on return? If the buyer was just having Buyer's Remorse, he could mark the shipment Return to Sender* and eventually it would come back to you at which point you refund.

Another is someone who openned early after estimated delivery time.

I got one of those recently who couldn't believe that my shipment did not arrive before another shipment from Canada and another from Australia.  I just refunded without arguement.

And put him on my BBL.

I presume you have your Seller Preferences/Buyer Requirements set to automatically Block buyers with Strikes for non-Payment.

*Buyers should not do this since eBay regards refused shipments as Undeliverable and does not require the seller to refund at all. But we are talking about polite, honest adults here, even though there is a disagreement.

No. That is too small of a sample size to make anything of. It sucks that you lost out on those two shipments, but I haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary.

You should report the person who filed an INR after asking to cancel. There isn't a specific category on the report buyer feature for probable fake INR, but if you contact eBay on the chat and explain what happened, the rep will walk you through the reporting process. There is a small chance that if the buyer was reported by other sellers, your report will be the one to put them over the edge, and their account will either be terminated, or they will be removed from the eBay Buyer Protection program.

I haven't had any issues lately (knock on wood). I had one person who clearly had changed their mind and were asking some weird questions, at which point I asked if they wanted me to cancel the order and they thanked me and said yes. Thankfully I hadn't sent it yet. Other than that, things have been going really smooth for me. Almost too smooth...

I will say that today didn't go so smooth though. Took some lettermail items (postal indicia) up to my post office only to find it closed. Someone had crashed their car into the building. I had to drive about 1/2 hour to another post office.

I had 2 this month (none since March).

1 - I gave them the $9.00 back he was a US buyer. It could have been lettermail rejected by customs (i did get one back a few days before that after 4 weeks) so I just gave the money back and said sorry, let me know if arrives and we can set up repayment

2 - I was a bit more weary about, person is in Toronto (im Ottawa) bought July 3rd 1 card and then next day July 4th bought 1 card. I shipped both seperate because they paid different times and I ship daily.  I got feedback for the July 3 purchase at some point, but no feedback on the July 4 one. They opened 2 cases for each item asking where it was. So i responded to both cases "whats your address so I can verify my records" as I always do. In the meantime they sent me a message through ebay messaing asking me basiclly whats up where are the cards. So i replied on the ebay messaging system, whats your address I'll check records, and politely saying I see feedback was recieved which usually that indicates the purchase has been recieved and things are good. Next morning both cases were closed by the buyer. Not sure if that spooked them or if they went and figured out that they did recieve the items.

I think they just tend to come in waves sometimes, and becasue its a negative thing happening, you take it a bit more personal in that moment. As a whole generally I don't get too many claims 1% at the very most!

I've also had two this month. So a bit more than normal  - I only had three total in the first seven months of the year. Hard to tell if it's a trend or just a one-off at this point.

One was a card that never arrived to Hawaii. Second one I'm dealing with right now - was going to Georgia and buyer claims it hasn't shown up yet (shipped July 26th).

Are they scamming me? Are they just delayed? Did they got caught by customs and haven't been returned to me yet? Who knows.

My store is on "time away" at the moment, but I noted in the last couple months folks are more grumpy and impatient than has traditionally been the case.

"per capita" I've had many more problems in terms of frustrations (ie complaints) and impatience regarding delivery times than is normal.

Same holds for folks sending me messages telling me my stuff is too expensive etc, they were higher than normal as well.

I suspect this is all a symptom of the inflationary, pandemic etc ongoing frustrations people are experiencing.
