Big change will be increasing the weight limit from 1kg to 2kg for USA Small Packet and Tracked Packet. This will bring them in line with the International weight limits.

Oh I LOOOVE the new USA tracked packet rates! I've often avoided selling heavy products for this reason - and this has opened up a whole new market for me! Yaaaay!

Only a few days left to get "P" stamp packets at 85 cents per stamp (plus tax) from Canada Post. Five cents more on Monday (Jan 14).

Yes, and if someone places an order on Sunday evening, don't wait until Monday morning to purchase postage for that parcel!

Plus, the shipping label purchased at the old rate is still good after the new rates kick in -- no need to add more money to the label when the package is finally mailed.

...

Lettermail deadline for the old stamp postage rate is Monday pickup time at your local red box.

Does anyone know off the top of their head how much the prepaid xpresspost bubble envelopes went up by?  My local post office clerk told me it was a lot.  I seem to recall paying around $12.50 for small regional and $18-ish for national.  Would love if you could post old/new prices  of both sizes for regional and national...thanks!

The new prices should be online but I have no idea what the 2018 prices were. I never use those envelopes as any time I've checked, they are more expensive than buying postage online and using your own packaging.

I noticed last night when I printed a label off Shippo (small packet to US) that the rate was $7.08 & if I had gone tracked it would have been $13.55. Are we getting a discount again on Shippo? I had thought all that was lost & that the only one we got a discount on was expedited (as per small business solution rate)?

Has your level with Solutions for Small Business changed recently?

Small Packet and Tracked Packet to the USA still get (small) discounts for Solutions for Small Business members.  Shippo is matching that discount.

Those prices sound like the old discounted prices for the 100g and under weight range. The 100g level was added last year for packet services.

Just a quick question on what you posted. Does this mean we no longer have to measure our boxes (dimensional weight?) is what I am not sure on. Need to be clear. As long as an item is under the weight, the box won't matter? Is that what this means.

PACKET services (Small Packet and Tracked Packet) do not use dimensional weight. They use actual weight to determine the cost.

...

PARCEL services do use dimensional weight adjustments for the shipping cost.

...

You still have to enter the dimensions. There are minimum and maximum sizes allowed.

Ok. If over 2 kg I should enter the dimensions of the box. Is that it?

Or should I enter them for Tracked Packet also?

If you’re buying postage or checking cost, you need to enter weight and size for all services.

Are you asking about what to do when listing? That depends on whether you offer calculated postage or flat-rate on your items for sale.

Also, Tracked Packet is not without its volumetric limit too. It may not calculate a price specific to volume but it won’t allow the sender to exceed a certain volume.

Do you mean a certain size of box by volumetric volume? I have a hard time understanding all this that is why I am asking questions. Is it going to let us know when the dimensions of a box are too large when we enter the info on our listing page or should I go search for that somewhere else.

Usually calculated because of the variety of stuff I sell unless I am listing on ebay.com. Then its an estimate so this would be handy when I have my ducks round up and know exactly what I am looking at. And for the smaller items. I sell old dolls on here too and was wondering if under 2 kg but the box could be larger if that would qualify.

So where do I go to find the limits on dimensions for this Tracked Packet service. I have used it before when an item was 1 kg and under. This will help some.

Another question is how do I use a flat rate when I sell different items with different weights all the time. I saw something to that effect on my hubber page (I think its called lol).  Kind of hard to figure all that out with variety of items I have. Any easy answer to that one?

Even with calculated I am constantly reimbursing buyers at the other end cause they overpaid sometimes up to $8. Sometimes I am short but most times they have overpaid. The calculator never seems to be right and I have entered the weight and the dimensions and the method of shipping yet this happens all the time.

This would be much easier if I could figure it out.

Flat-rate assumes items of similar size and weight will be shipped for a single price to all buyers within a nation. You have to pick an average. You’ll win some and you’ll lose some.

With Calculated, the software provides the exact cost based on the input you’ve given it. If you’re getting incorrect pricing, you’ve given the software flawed data. Don’t ever use imperial for Calculated; it will be inaccurate.

I’m happy to help you figure that out but you’d need to provide a specific example of a calculation you found to be incorrect by $8 as part of a Calculated Shipping extrapolation.

For all.

...

If using calculated shipping for your ebay listing you must enter the dimensions and weight.

...

If buying a shipping label online you must enter the dimensions and weight.

...

If buying at the postal counter the clerk will do the measuring.
