Big change will be increasing the weight limit from 1kg to 2kg for USA Small Packet and Tracked Packet. This will bring them in line with the International weight limits.

The ebay calculator gives the Canada Post counter rate with no discounts applied. eBay does not assume the Seller has a Solutions for Small Business membership (or that the Seller will use it).
There is no reason to give a refund unless the difference is greater than the cost of packaging and the cost of the shipping FVF that ebay charges the Seller.

My conundrum has always been that it is possible to apply a discount in eBay to your mailing options. The main problem is the only way you can is by applying a % to ALL services. If you have a special rate with Canada Post, the discount only is applied to SOME services. Too bad eBay would not let you add your Small business number to your account so both systems would be speaking the same language and using the same info.

PS. With my listings I have always tried to give several mailing choices. More options equals a greater chance of causing a sale.

I don't use imperial rate, I use metric. I enter the dimensions and weight of a box but when it gets to the buyer at the other end it never matches. So I end up refunding. If its $2 and under I don't but anything over that I do.
One thing I have noticed though is when I go to print my label it always says Xpresspost. And that would be the high price of shipping. I don't enter that in my listing ever so why does it show up on paypal or shippo. But even then the cost never matches what the buyer paid at the other end.
I just talked to ebay about this and this is my second attempt at this and they don't get that one either. Something doesn't match along the way. Lately getting a lot of you owe us 50 cents or 90 cents from Canada Post??

I can't find the one at $8.00 but here's an example of one I shipped a couple of weeks ago. Buyer paid $24.44. Actual cost was $19.64. I refunded $4.80. Size of the box was 48 x 32 x 12. Weight was 1.450 kg. Sent from K0C 2B0 to G8H 1W8. Was marked Expedited Parcel in my slot as Regular Parcel is usually a bit more to ship for some stupid reason.

Yes I try to do the same when its feasible. Sometimes an item only qualifies for Expedited if shipped outside of Canada. Within Canada the cost of a Regular Parcel is more than Expedited. I was under the impression that Shippo does have our Small Business number. That site always has some glitch or other so I end up always going back to paypal. Sometimes it works fine but most times after I have entered the same info 3 or 4 times it gets really annoying. And if you need any help you email them and they answer you within a day or 2. Not feasible on ebay when I have a 1 day handling time.

Strange..Just tried to edit an ad from expedited to tracked packet, and get a red flag that the item exceeds the 1kg weight limit for tracked packet usa..Has ebay not changed this yet to include the new weight brackets??

Yes that was my next question. Should we go in and change our listing now to reflect this new rate if it applies.

Interesting.
Canada Post's calculator with those numbers shows:
https://www.canadapost.ca/cpotools/apps/far/business/findARate?execution=e1s2
Over the counter rate: $21.71 + fuel surcharge + HST = $25.42
Solutions for Small Business level 1 discount
Regular parcel: $20.14 + fuel surcharge + HST = $23.58
Expedited parcel: $20.77 + fuel surcharge + HST = $24.32
Those are the 2019 rates, which are 5-6% higher than 2018.
So the eBay calculated rate (over the counter) appears to be on target.
Not sure why your actual cost is so low. Are you excluding sales tax or do you have a higher discount level with SfSB?
...
Side note:
Volumetric/dimensional adjustment for regular is different than expedited inside Canada.
Regular: 48 x 32 x 12 / 6000 = 3.072 kg
Expedited: 48 x 32 x 12 / 5000 = 3.686 kg (one weight step higher)

"Lately getting a lot of you owe us 50 cents or 90 cents from Canada Post??"
That happens if your dimensions are slightly off. You may be measuring a dimension at the end but the package may bulge a little bit more in the middle. The machine that measures packages at CP will catch that and may bump your cost up to the next dimensional level.

eBay is aware of the problem, I'm not sure when it will be fixed.

Looked on their site last night and could not find it. It was in pdf format. A real handy reference guide as it had Lettermail and Small packet rates and dimensions required all on a single page. Does anyone else remember these? I always kept a copy at my work table and referred to it often when calculating shipping.

What's SfSB. I don't know but I doubt I am getting a huge discount from Canada Post. I don't sell enough to qualify for any big discounts they might offer.
$19.64 is the total amount I had to pay on that package taxes included. It happens all the time and nobody can figure this out, why they get a different amount at the other end. Ebay has no way of tracking what I reimburse buyers so I pay fees on the amount the buyers paid every month for shipping. So I call them once a month to refund the extra fees I paid. They won't do this indefinitely I was told but not sure why this is happening. I never knew about this till last month when a buyer purchased 5 items and paid each individually including shipping charges. Then I had to refund all shipping costs except one and my fees didn't go down and didn't see the refunds on invoice either. So I called.

Thanks. I thought that we had lost any discount on small packet rates & that we only got it on expedited now. It was under the 100 grams but last year's rate for 100 grams & under was $6.94 (can't remember tracked for sure but think it was $13.41?) & it was $7.08 on Monday.
