Well the topic line sums it all up.
This surface small package going from Saskatoon to Bangkok Thailand arrive 73 days after mailing. 🙂 Canada Post had said they wouldn't start an investigation untill 75 days past. They had two days to spare.
Buyer informed me he got it and repaid the same day. Thank God for Honest people. ( $ 404.00 )
This package carried a whopping $ 7.10 postage and the old $ 100.00 insurance.
My only regret is I cannot leave positive feedback for that buyer as ebay closes feedback after 60 days.
I contacted ebay they won't allow me to leave any feedback after 60 days a real shame closed minded thinking I think.
This was package three of 6 overseas surface small packet taking forever to reach there destinations.
They paid insurance on one Canadian lost packet. the others have to wait the 75 days before investigation/ payout.

Honest buyers exists. Honest sellers exist. The two make eBay work well. The two make up the majority of the transactions on eBay.
The bad occur occasionally, even rarely. Just like fear of an accident does not stop most people from driving a car. If you take the appropriate care, accidents are rare.
There is no need to stop selling on eBay. Know and understand the risks. There are many successful sellers and buyers on eBay making so many great transactions. The problem is not eBay or PayPal, it is knowing how to use them to sell and buy. Crime and fraud exists everywhere, not just on eBay.
To give up now after you have learned so much seems a waste.
Sell less expensive items and target Canada and the USA to gain more experience. Read the forums here and gain experience through other buyers and sellers issues and solutions.
If you can sell within the rules of eBay and PayPal and make a profit, why not?

Expressit,
For someone with a seller ID such as yours, whatever possessed you to send a Small Packet weighing less than 250 g and valued at $404 from Saskatoon to Thailand by surface mail? I've used surface mail overseas a lot but only when the air rate is totally out of line with the item value (which is most of the time). Air postage for that package would have been just a third more, $9.66. For heavier weights, Canada Post air rates are typically more than double the surface rates. (BTW your postage must have been $7.08, not $7.10 - but we won't split hairs).Surely your Thai buyer would have sprung for air postage? Did you perhaps believe CP's claim that surface Small Packets reach their destination "in 4 up to 6 weeks"? That is the biggest fib going.
I also hope that you didn't believe CP when they told you they would initiate an "investigation" after 75 days had passed. Believe me, with a Small Packet, they have nothing to investigate because the carriage of that packet to an overseas destination is completely out of their hands. They have to take your and your buyer's word for it that the package did not arrive. And, to give CP their due, they almost always do (or did) and pony up the refund.
And what about the other 5 packages? Are all of them still in transit? I'll bet they'll all arrive eventually. I'm a firm believer in the ultimate efficiency of the postal system.
Good luck.
Tom

I sent it the cheapest way as per instuctions of buyer. I sent it by surface as I too believe in the efficiency of the postal system.
I used the words 75 days before investigation opened because it is CP jargon. I am well aware they make two phone calls and or two emails then they pay out the insurance 🙂 That is there interpetation of a investigation 🙂 covering butt for tax payers 🙂
Of the other packages, they are showing up one at a time, I sent one to Spain I had just refunded the guy yesterday morning I received a e'mail from him this morning and he received it yesterday afternoon. 60 days in transit He also just re paid one hour after this mornings e'mail 🙂 a whopping $ 9.00 sale with $11.00 postage.
Not sure I'd bother selling more on ebay because of what could have happened, the attitudes of the players Ebay, Paypal, Canada post, ( all out for themselves ) ( Me too 🙂 They make there money and don't care about the fairness.
Its their ball and they can take it home.
You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink. This horse is weighing 🙂
