I may be missing something, but on checking a parcel rate today I could not find Light Packet Air listed with the other services to the U.S. I thought it was only the Small Packet surface services that were being discontinued.
I use (used!!) Light Packet Air frequently to the U.S. for lighter, less expensive items because the rate wasn't much more than lettermail. With it I could give my buyers a break on shipping as well as save myself time and effort. If this service is now gone too, I am howlingly disappointed! :_|
My only online option for items under 500gm/under 2cm thick appears to be Small Packet Air at $7.60 to the U.S., but I can't possibly charge $7.60 shipping on a $10.00 item. I suppose I'll have to start licking stamps and traipsing to the Post Office.
Does anyone have any clear information on the fate of Light Pkt Air to the US?
Anyone know for sure if this service is still available internationally?

Light Packets are not included in the Find-a-Rate calculator on the Canada Post website. I pointed this out to the worthies at CP back in January, along with all the other errors, but they haven't got around to correcting the omission. I suspect it's deliberate because of CP's asinine regulation that a Light Packet must contain only "paper-based products". No doubt CP is anxious to limit the number of customers who flout that rule.

There is no such rule for light packet, just letterpost. But it wouldn't surprise me that CP would prefer people to use methods other than light packet just from a profit point of view.

PJ's right, of course. I apologize for my confusion. I've taken too long a break from eBay and the inanities of Canada Post.
The fact remains that the omission of Light Packet from the CP Find-a-Rate site is inexcusable.

So is the new corrected version of the booklet now available? I ask the post office weekly if they got the new one yet, and they say no every time. The last time I checked was last Thursday, and they said they still haven't got it.
