Listing coins and bullion Announcement

This just arrived.

New Item Specifics for Listings in Coins and Bullion Categories

Based on feedback from sellers, eBay Canada has rolled out new additional item specifics for listings in the Coins and Bullion categories.

These two new item specifics, Fineness and Composition, are necessary to help determine the appropriate tax required on transactions in these categories.

Sellers with listings in these categories are encouraged to review their active listings and add these item specifics. With this information, eBay is able to accurately apply the appropriate taxability rules for each transaction, ensuring a more seamless transaction experience for buyers and sellers.

For anyone this applies to, best of luck. See the part about "encouraged". Fineness and Composition, for many sellers, will be difficult to confirm with 100% certainty and may be based on opinion vs actuality.

Could you please have the tech department add Unknown for both (Fineness & Composition)? Unfortunately unless you are part of some group submitting directely to the helpdesk email just bounces mail back to sender as undeliverable in a spam folder.

 Thanks,

It doesn't look like they are required specfics so if you don't have that information then leave the specifics blank. The only time they are necessary in determining tax status is if they are   a certain percentage of bullion.

If they are or become required, then I agree that an 'unknown' option should be available.

Not necessarily. They recently have revised item specifics for unit and quantity in a very poorly implemented way. The options do not match what many sellers require and to there is no way to manually correct the field to make the information relevant.

I have been finding listings where ebay has ported to new categories and messed up the original details dropping in entirely incorrect information. The only way to confirm is to manually check listings 1 at a time and proof line by line. Not super helpful from a time well spent perspective.

Example. I have a German Schirmer Kaffee Tin where eBay in their infinite wisdom updated to Bailey's. That is the ONLY available option under specifics and you cannot manually add/update to the correct 1. Master Category for listing has been moved to Bailey's. Previously I believe the item was previously (originally) under advertising.

Yeah that whole "Unit" and "Quantity" thing is super weird. I get it on all of my media listings. I don't understand what they intend for me to put there? Like, "1" and "Video Game"? I guess it might make sense for like lots... but at the same time the examples they give are like "fl. oz."? What?

I've just been leaving it blank.

I see that update as mostly a nuisance. Does not add any real information to a current listing. In many cases it was already in the body of the listing already for those who spend the time READING a listing. As for Lots and/or bundles in the majority of categories eBay has removed making it extremely difficult to create a listing with a mixture of items.  Which is something many sellers still do or would like to.
