Hi everyone, to anyone that uses Chit Chats to ship. I'm still pretty new to selling on EBay and would like any advice on the best way to set my shipping details when posting my items. Any other shipping advice would be helpful too. Thanks in advance

Looking for shipping advice from Chit Chat Shippers

That is a very good question and a smart one to pose as an emerging seller. I have no direct experience with ChitChat but a good many members here do. While we wait for those members with experience to attend the thread and provide their input, try reading some of the past threads from the discussion Board archives:

Some more info would help us to help you. What kind of items do you currently or plan to sell? Is your market global or just Canada & US?

For me, I do a variety of items all shapes and sizes. I used to send many things letter or untracked, but that has since stopped because I use Chit Chats.

I have a few shipping policies:

1-3oz Under 10MM, reserved for low cost goods that can be sent Lettermail Canada & US, for which I charge the buyer $3.50

1-5oz for Canada, US & UK. Canada is $10, US is $5.00, UK is $10.00. I use Chit Chats tracked for each service. My prices allow me to flat rate each service and any overage is paid out of an items profit, any surplus is profit. For Canada I use Chit Chats Canadian service. For US, I use ChitChats USPS First Class. I always get insurance. For US & International I find using padded envelope is better. Also, for UK I use Ascendia tracked.

Remember that to qualify for insurance you must use a tracked method. If you are delivery expensive items in excess of $850 and need signatures, some services may not offer that option. So items like that you may need to research if another carrier would be appropriate.

6-13oz, Canada, US, UK. Canada is $12, US is $7.50, UK is still $10.00.

Parcels Canada & US, Canada $20 US $20 , mainly because I may have to get more shipping material or box and prices can get higher.

I set my handling time to 3 days and depending on sales I may visit ChitChats once or twice a week. I also visit the local thrift stores in that area while I'm down there to pick up extra stock. So it works out good.

I use "Standard International Flat Rate Shipping" for anything shipping outside Canada. For Canada I use "Canada Post Expedited" (for packages I ship through ChitChat).

Combined with my extended handling time this gives me a delivery estimate that I can easily beat even though I only ship once every 4 or 5 days.

If you use USPS Priority which is zoned (and USPS First Class will also be zoned after the 19th) you will need to use an average flat-rate (if you list on .ca) going forward. If you list on .com you can use the shipping calculator with the appropriate USPS service.
