Need advice on selling stamps

I came across a big box of stamps in the trash. There is somewhere near 500-800 stamps. Some are new are used from all over the world I was going to list some of them on ebay maybe as a lot but I was wonderign if anyone could tell me where I might be able to find more information. Here is a link to pictures of some of the stamps:

Re: Need advice on selling stamps

If you are interested, take the stamps to your public library and ask for the Scott Catalogue. This is in 6 volumes the size of a city phone directory.

Look at the Canada, USA, German, and British sections. Look at the oldest stamps first.

Use the "used stamp" prices. These are retail prices for a full service stamp store.

BTW, in our stamp shop you can buy a package of 1000 worldwide stamps, selected for quality for under $40.

pierre is right, as was the guy who trashed them. Pass them on to a youngster. Add a stock book, a pair of tongs and a magnifying glass (2X is fine) and let her arrange and rearrange them  to her heart's content. Some things are priceless. 🙂

Hi reallynicestamps

Many of the stamps illustrated in the image are NOT in the Scott Catalogues.  They are cheap cto (cancelled-to-order) from the Trucial States not listed in Scott.

Re: Need advice on selling stamps

I tried to give away a small collection of stamps a couple years ago. Good luck with that. There was more interest in the tools and supplies than the stamps themselves.

Re: Need advice on selling stamps

My husband and I worked for a missionary organization for about 33 years, and we have friends all over the world. I always tear the stamps off the envelopes and keep them. Every so often a buyer asks me to put stamps on their package because they collect them, and I am happy to send them a bunch that I have saved.

Re: Need advice on selling stamps

If they were in the trash, leave them is the trash! It hard enough to sell excellent quality stamps, unless you are giving them away below face value!
