Free insertion promo coming to Canada for stores subscribers
The free listings promotions that we announced in Spring 2020 were enthusiastically received by eBay sellers and proved to be a powerful and effective selling tool in the challenging COVID-19 environment. We want to help you keep the positive momentum going. Starting on August 1st, sellers who do not have eBay store subscriptions will automatically get a permanent increase in monthly zero insertion fee listings from 50 to 200 and Basic store subscribers will get an increase from 250 to 350 for fixed price listings.
Additionally, in the U.S. starting on August 1st, eBay.com is providing a significant increase in zero insertion fees for fixed price listings in select categories for sellers with store subscriptions who have registered for managed payments. eBay Canada will be launching a very similar promo on August 8th, but for various reasons, we will not be requiring Managed Payments registration. Check your email and Message Centre closer to August 8th for more info on this promotion.

If you are not currently in Managed Payments then you can still list on .com

Did I miss the announcement where more than casual sellers and basic Stores subscribers are offered something from the buffet table of free listings or other incentives?
Or have the actual sellers with real Stores Subscriptions to pay (1000 listings per month) not invited to the feast? You know... those of us who are here month after month with a firm annual commitment.
Or is it once more all about recruiting new sellers or converting casual sellers to regular sellers and no one at ebay gives a hot hoot about retaining the existing sellers who are already here and committed to selling on ebay?
Whoever runs recruitment at ebay without adding retention to their business model deserves a boot to the seat of their pants to remind them there are thousands of sellers already here.... at least for now... or maybe we should all pretend to be a new sellers and see what sort of honey comes around to sweeten the pot.
Or maybe I could see ebay offering something to existing sellers for a change and I'd be forced to eat my words.

Oh, I see. I'm supposed to wait until August 8 to see what honey comes around.
We will see.

I suspect if all other free listing increases mirrored those on .COM, that the remaining ones on .CA should be likewise...but I guess that is yet to be determined...

I think you did miss the announcement, and it's good news for existing sellers! We're referring to the announcement .com got a few weeks ago about MAJOR increases in zero insertion fee listings across the board, for all store subscribers.
Because of Managed Payments and international site issues still to be sorted out, we can't opt into the .com version, so .ca is going to announce their version in August, and they implied that it's going to be similar if not identical (which would only make sense).

I think there are countless examples in ebay history of sellers on ebay.ca not getting equal treatment to ebay.com as far as options, features and promotion are concerned so I would never take for granted that ebay.ca would receive the same deal. We'll know in a few days what we're offered this time.

It's a similar scenario to the ebay sellers on dot com that were offered a "bonus credit carrot" for signing up for MP by a certain time, others weren't and then the Canadians, where as far as I know, no carrots for carrot cake were even a driveby thought!!

The carrot was "we've blocked you from listing".

I'll get right to sending a thank you card as soon as i tunnel my way through the current batch of 162 listings that require possible Item Specifics. As a heads up to anyone else this has affected, in the message I received from eBay Technical Support, this may apply/happen again to sellers listings in early September 2020.

The MBA who runs that program (and never ran a business that required hiring and training workers) missed the class about how expensive it is to find and train new workers.
I have seen odd bits and pieces of advertising recruiting Buyers. One in a podcast of a CBC program and another popped up on Facebook yesterday. So there's that.

It has long stuck in my craw the way ebay prostrates itself to lure new sellers while completely ignoring the ones they already have, the sellers with experience and thousands of listings, reliable products and proven quality customer service, and who pay the actual bills. New sellers are risky and high-maintenance. Existing sellers less so.
Yet here we sit, like a good wife from the 1950s while our philandering ebay husband runs around town looking for new, young tail.
