Ummm enjoy!!! See comparison included within and below. It was already bad enough that promoted listings display show limited information about seller including but mainly their location. When I click a promoted offering, I am constanting getting sellers that are located in China. Not super useful when I want to shop Canadian or US as last resort. This not work that would with your original search...well most of the time. I have also been seeing a complete drop off a cliff when it comes to sales recently. (Like many others that posted in that discussion.) See post 86 for "explanation"!!!!

Example search:
https://www.ebay.ca/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p3519243.m570.l1313&_nkw=trailer+strap&_sacat=0
First item is mine but it only shows by clicking. Not a good result...cause and effect.

I still see seller's name in search on .ca but on.com I don't see the seller's name of their location when they are outside of the US. The way I understand it this is a test and not everyone sees the same thing. It may or may not be permanent. I agree that it is not a good thing but they do tests all the time to do not result in any changes so we can hope for the best.

For smiles and chuckles I tested again to see if any progress had been made on this known issue
Search words used: Weightwatcher Scale
Searching on pc using chrome
Dot a results:
First test 77 results
2nd test 78 results
3rd test 305 results
Dot com results: 787
From a buyer and sellers perspective views/results should be somewhat similar. In speaking with eBay for business on Facebook they are starting to grasp the differences and the concern it generates.
PS. Anyone also having issues with cut and paste to discussions? Recently it has been very flakey.

Below are the responses I received from Facebook for Business:
Thank you for clarifying that. So currently our product team is aware of seller IDs not reflecting in search. This is working as designed, as it is a part of a test they are running currently. They are reviewing different designs of how listings and information reflects in search results. Currently, that's all the information we have available, but we would be more than happy to pass your feedback along to our team.
Thank you for supplying those screenshots! Our product team is definitely monitoring customer feedback. We don't know for sure that this will be a permanent change or temporary. We know how important it is to reflect seller user IDs, so buyers can make informed decisions when browsing the site. I know typically when there are changes like this, it is followed up with an improved or different method. We appreciate you sharing your feedback and insights with us. That is how we continue to improve and expand our products!
We don't know that this is a full change, or something temporary. But we do value customer feedback and continue to monitor comments from the community.
As a long time seller myself, I know that changes can be tricky at times. It's important to continue voicing your feedback and opinion. We are always monitoring comments from the community and alerting our teams so that your guys voice is heard.
From a seller and also a buyers perspective if/when these changes take place if there isn't pushback when it affects business they are not really improvements. Que sera sera or it is what it is...carry on are not solutions. Once these changes kick in there is rarely (Never) any going back. Strength in numbers.
or to quote George...Ya gotta have faith!!!

As a temporary workaround here is what I just received from eBay for Business. Seems to work on a PC in Chrome.
And on both ca and com.

I tried on 4 different browsers - it works on none. Annoying...

It appears to be an intermittent sometimes workaround. For me only worked on ca. On com gives limited not helpful info. Chrome on PC.
View ca July 7

Bonus note about condition is strange. Heyyyyyy...I tried!!! Win some, lose some!!!

Indeed, it works on .ca, and doesn't work on .com. Weird...

Due to the underwhelming amount of recent sales and traffic and to appease my curiousity I did a comparison of the sites and what they display. Ya gotta love eBay rabbit holes and where you land!!!!
Checked while signed in on ca and am seeing the following results. Let's just say results were inconsistent. You be the judge.
UK = No seller name but does include Pounds Stirling so assumable it is UK, Condition, Feedback numbers. shop with confidence (ummm whatever!!).
Germany = Store - Where it ships from, Customs info + seller name, feedback info / Non store includes seller name and feedback.
Australia = Price info + Postage AU / Condition / Feedback 0 to 100 %, No seller name, Shop with confidence
Canada = Store - Price info + Distance from ship location / Store - Top Rated Seller + seller name/feedback. Non store only - Seller name + feedback
USA - Price info + Distance in miles / Condition when noted/ Feedback % + number received. No seller names.
Mexico - Price info + Shipping, Nothing about distance/ Condition/ Feedback % + Count. No seller name
(Search results had US items coming up first even with shipping from and to Mexico)
Majority of sites have no country search filter similar to USA/Canada
Side notes - Sites are no longer saving search history. Had to retype each time I returned to a specific site.
First time I tested the Mexico site it brought up an announcement for UK.
Does make it appear that the different eBay websites DO NOT/NO LONGER mirror each other 100 %. It definitely was an interesting world tour. Not for the faint of heart!!!!

I was wondering what was going on with searches.

It seems they have it fixed.

I believe it's still a work in progress but getting closer. Display depends on site.
dot ca view: Canada does display on some listings but not across the board.

It's working fine for me. Unless you are searching 'distance nearest' you have never been able to see the country the seller was in unless they were in a country outside of the home site. So if seller is in Canada, you won't see 'from Canada' on .ca but you will see it on.com. On .com it is the opposite.
In your screen shot are you are searching distance nearest on .com and searching a different way on .ca? That would explain why the results are different.

Searched the same wayu on both. Only thing I changed was ca to com. Other possibility is the presets for what gets saved between the 2 sites may vary. eBay has been a little wishy washy lately as to what gets saved/re-used the next time you do the exact same process.
As a side for the US results they were part way down the page to show a comparison. Canadian results were what showed up at the top.
Other take away is when it was asked about this "change" on dot com depending on the time of day it was either a glitch, test or will it be permanent. Which is it?
07-13-2024 05:10 PM
Yes I assumed the $C results were from .ca and the other ones were from .com.
Did you check your search defaults on each site? I've always found that changing search parameters only affects the site I'm on, not both sites so I still suspect that you searched .com with distance nearest and searched .ca with with best match or something else. When I search on .ca I do see the same location thing you are seeing on .com. Assuming you did not use nearest first on .ca, (since there are no distances shown) your screenshots shows that things are back to normal.
Ebsy had stated it was a test, not a glitch. Originally they thought it might be a glitch than later on said it was a test. It seems the test is over now.
