Ongoing Scams

Just FYI to anyone interested, I am the victim of a recent scam (infrequent ebay user, did not have my guard up). Basically I received an email immediately after a sale asking for shipping to a different address. I assumed any message associated with the item sold would only be from the buyer. Long story short I'm out approx $1000. ebay would not help. Live and learn, but I though I would pass on the nature of the scam. It is documented here -> If You’re Selling GPUs On Ebay, Beware Of This Shipping Scam  ( this is not my article but the text of the message from the scammer is exactly the same that I received, this is just another example). After looking into my issue it is very surprising to me (infrequent user as stated above) to find out the amount of scams that occur on ebay. I'm not sure it even worth using their service anymore.

Re: Ongoing Scams

Happens every day, not a new scam, applies to much more than GPU's (although they were the popular target a few years ago).

These scams which are in the the 10's of billions per year are rampant EVERYWHERE, it is not an eBay thing.

I am not dissing your warning in any way, people need to be on guard at all times no matter where they sell.

One recent move by eBay (not sure if it applies to Canada), Sellers if they print shipping labels via eBay can no longer change the Zip Code, you can still make some edits to the address (eg: add an Apt No.) but the zip code is locked.

eBay made no announcement but it's clear this change was to prevent at least some of the scam attempts that you encountered.
