Package Rates went up no manual/tables update yet GRRRR say the stamps on the box kinda people...

I was expecting this and was correct, the rates went up but CP hasn't updated the online manuals yet.

I have two different manuals in two different places on the CP website with all my important tables, they still have not yet been updated.

I know at least the small packet rates went up, all of mine were low (fortunately between 29c and 35c I came armed with 32c stamps so it worked out good that way).

I'm not sure if anyone found the new rates tables posted anywhere yet for parcels/packets.... if so please point me in the right direction!!!

I also looked for the new rates, can't find anything. I did see somewhere on a CP site that said rates were changed but nowhere does it say by how much or what the new rates are. I really need to know for small packet US.

@vintagenorth I can tell you what mine were/are from today's postal experience:

USA under 100g was $8.55 is now $8.86  ($7.74 before FS to $8.02)

USA 100-250g ws $10.45 is now $10.83  ($9.48 before FS to $9.80)

You can use my original numbers to see if you were getting the same discount as me, I only get the basic 5% and this is after this month's fuel surcharge is added - ie this is what needs to be on the package to cover everything....I also put the before FS numbers in brackets.

The parcel rates were increased back in mid-September.

Solutions for Small Business members were given a delay in the increase until today (January 10).

The way the post office worked it was by increasing the discount level on the new prices to keep the final cost the same as the old rates. The discounts for members have now switched back to the old levels.

For example:

Expedited parcel at the counter was around 5% discount before the September increase.

When the new rates took effect in September/2021, that discount was increased to around 8%

January 10/2022 - the discount dropped down to around 5% again.

...

My data: Compared Friday and Monday receipts stamped parcels going to the same area. Base price is still the same but the discount is smaller, so final cost was higher.

Does anyone know where to find the new postal rates?  I have new listings to do and need to know the 2022 rates.  TIA.

What are our customers seeing (and paying) when they buy as our Calculated Shipping rate?

Has eBay managed to update those?

What we pay is likely to vary- but what the customer sees should be accurate across the board.

I just sent a small package USA - under 1000g but over 500g.

Total cost with fuel surcharge and discount was 20.14  or  22.18 tracked.

@ypdc_dennis I think I follow your explanation, however from September until Today the rates in these two manuals were what I was paying (with fuel surcharge added):

https://www.canadapost-postescanada.ca/cpc/doc/en/support/postal-guide/business-parcels.pdf

and

https://www.canadapost-postescanada.ca/cpc/doc/en/support/prices/business-prices.pdf

So in theory they incorporated those adjusted base discounts until today, when they should have been changed to reflect the lesser discount....right, or am I missing something?

The undiscounted counter rate is supposedly what is displayed for ebay calculated shipping (minus any discounts the Seller has setup).

To find the discounted pricing sheets for SfSB members you have to sign into your SfsB account and click on the $ circle (in the dashboard) to see what the the discounted rates are for each level.

Generally I do not use the pricing sheets much.

I use stamps for lettermail and oversize lettermail -- those are a simple reference chart in my stamp spreadsheet.

For expedited parcel (or regular parcel) -- I use the Canada Post calculator (without signing into my account), take the base amount + fuel surcharge and discount by 5% (was 8% for the last 3 months when I clued in to what Canada Post was doing with the prices). Then I coat the package with stamps... 😁

For everything else I just buy a label online (SnapShip, Shippo, PayPal...) -- so no pricing sheets to worry about.

Hi @ypdc_dennis it's the same as one of the two I included earlier, it still has the "old" rates, not the ones they're using now.... the tables used to include the first level discount, they're really not much use to anybody right now as they don't apply to anyone as far as I know? ie who could use $7.74 as the US 100g small packet rate to figure out what they're supposed to pay given it's $8.02 now. The small packet rates are less a concern to me than the expedited etc rates as I can't just keep track of my "usual" ones with them.

I had a brainwave from the problems I had back in September and I checked and this counter manual both shows an update date of today as well as the rates match what I was being charged today at least small packet and the one expedited that went out today. Those are the only ones I'm able to confirm via usage.

https://www.canadapost-postescanada.ca/cpc/doc/en/support/prices/consumer-prices.pdf

So it looks like the "counter rates" apply to us or at least me (stamps on the box kinda people) now, not sure if they'll port them over to the SSB as the new base rates ever or not...or why they have them if nobody is using them......

There used to be a level 0 SfSB sheet which showed the price if you used your card at the counter. Don't know if exists (or how to find it) on the Canada Post website.

I believe that was me, I only got the minimum 5%ish discount before (the curse of stamps on the box syndrome). The tables I attached used to show the rates I paid for as long as I can remember back, aside from the problem I had in September.

In september when the new rates came all the sudden I lost the discount and as I mentioned in a thread back then I was having to use the consumer rates. When my post office converted to the new system a while ago you might remember my "vindication" situation where my postal rates dropped back again to the discounted amount.

I'm not sure if this is just me at my PO again, or if others are experiencing the same problem. If it's only me, I'm worried it will stick this time, last time the conversion to the new system put me back to what I expected, perhaps this time I'm getting the deferred increase that was supposed to happen but happened to me early last time.

I looked on my receipts and I have no savings aside from the expedited and for the life of me I can't figure out how it got calculated, there's a total and a number attached to the fuel surcharge but not the item itself. So I apparently saved 14c  (4.3%) on the fuel surcharge and the "live" discount shows as 76c so theoretically I guess I saved 62c (3.6%) on the item.  That the discount is different on each makes no sense to me.

I compared my small packets "today" with small packets last week, last week I was getting a discount on the small packets, today I am not, so this appears to be exactly the same problem I had back in September.

I'll wait for a bit to see if it changes, it has happened in the past where my PO is a day or two behind in getting the new fuel surcharge rates applied etc so I'll see what is being used on Wednesday.

If you do a rate check at CP without signing into your account Expedited is not an available option for Canada. Somehow when you use the calculated shipping method Expedited IS  available. Has there ever been a rationale  explanation of why it works this way?

Same goes for anyone showing up at the  counter without an account. They won't be able to ship using Expedited.

Do we need a reason as to why it works that way?  Since we have access to expedited online or at the counter with a small business account, it makes sense to let us have access to that method on ebay. It would be silly if they set it up so that we couldn't access it.

I went a few pages further and got this:

https://www.canadapost-postescanada.ca/cpc/doc/en/business/2021-parcels-prices-ooc.pdf

which gives percentages but not numbers.
