Anyone else experienced this?

Sold an item to a fellow in Serbia, and went to try and print a shipping label through PayPal. Filled in the details as normal, selected International Air Small Packet, clicked Continue, and got this error message.

PayPal Shipping is not available. We apologize for the inconvenience.

No other details. I have no problem printing other labels - heck, I printed a Light Packet USA label immediately before printing this one.

Tried on a couple different browsers - nothing. Tried manually typing in address information using paypal.ca/shipnow - same error.

Eventually after screwing around with it for nearly an hour I gave up and went to the post office to mail it, writing the address out by hand.

I very infrequently sell internationally (other than USA), so I'm not sure if it's something I'm doing wrong or what. Any help is appreciated.

Sounds like the line length problem -- I think you are restricted to 25 or 26 characters per line -- solution is to shorten the long line. Eliminate unneeded parts and abbreviate where possible (for example: Saint becomes St)

Huh, I did not know that. The address line was quite long, but to be honest with you I don't know how it could have been shortened. The address line was "Bulevar oslobodjenja 14/5".

I don't even know what those words/combinations mean, never mind trying to shorten them 😛

But if I run into this problem again I'll definitely try to shorten it and see if that changes anything. Thanks!

I think that it is closer to 45 characters and it usually tells you if that is the problem.

I often find that when I have a problem with an international address and there is something filled in under the optional 'state/province' line, I can take out whatever is on that line and the label will work.

I thought of that too - the original address that was listed in PayPal had "NOTDESCRIBED" in the state/province field, I'm assuming the result of some sort of default setting on PayPal. I removed it of course, leaving that field completely blank, but it still didn't work. Very odd.
