Payments from Buyers - Something to watch for

As a heads up, had a situation recently where the buyer paid but the email from ebay did not denote that shipping had paid. Routinely, it should. When I confirmed payouts and order details system for this situation it did confirm the shipping had been paid and with the option requested.

The only reason I bring this up is in the past 3 months I've had several buyer  choose the free pick up option when making payment. Issue being they were in Ontario and I am in Alberta. Shipping is extra.  If you are not watching closely it would be very easy to miss. As sellers now enrolled MP we all know what's envolved in refunding and re-billing, when the buyer is co-operative. Or the alternative solution, issuing an invoice for shipping only and trying to coordinate a paypal addy.  (Was unable to confirm it was accidental or intentional error on the buyers part.)

eBay payment email displays examples below.

Correct:

Your buyer has confirmed the payment of C $8.25 + C $6.95

Below:

Paid: C $8.25 + C $6.95 shipping

Incorrect:

Your buyer has confirmed the payment of C $10.00.

Below:

Paid: C $10.00 + C $5.00 shipping

Payments from Buyers - Something to watch for

Thank you Lotz! I recently saw a different but rather odd scam.

The buyer purchased a $750 t shirt and then filed for a return. The USA seller had Free Returns. The buyer used the free Ebay label.  This is where there's a twist.

The buyer photo shopped the Ebay label. They changed their own address and they changed the seller's address to theaddress across the street from the seller's actual address. The package still had the original tracking number.  It was delivered albeit to a different but close address.

In Ebays mind the return was complete. They expected the seller to issue a full refund .

The only problem was the package was empty.
