Hi all. Just got off the phone with a most excellent customer service rep who advised me that they do now have a "program" to help sellers pinpoint which of their GTC listings are now missing photos.
Yes, I know, not as good as finding what the heck happened to them and replacing them for us but hey, it's a step in the right direction.
Unfortunately you will have to invest the time in phoning customer service to have them email the program. There is no link that I can share. It will be in the form of an Excel file.
If your c/s rep has no idea what you are talking about, you can try using this (I think) reference code. Listings SR# 1-170934184980 I am not sure if that is just for mine or a general internal code. Either way, make the call and hopefully it will be of help.

You can run this program and it will show all the listings that have only 1 picture. I ended up with 29, there was more but I had corrected them earlier. It took about three hours to find the pictures to put back. I usually have 3 pics. Each one had to be done manually and when you have thousands of pics, somewhat organized by year, and genre. Still a pain in the butt and a waste of my time. Thanks ebay.

You know, I haven't even looked to see how many of mine were wrecked because I really don't want to know. I found a few by accident but given the timelines this occurred, I had as many as 350 GTC listings renewing during that period. It's the only time of the month where I have that many eggs in the basket and THAT was the moment that ebay lost it all. If I run the program and discover 350+ listings are missing their pics, I honestly don't know I'm even going to bother fixing them because it's just not worth it to me anymore; I can de-list them and re-list them on another platform for the same amount of work it would take to fix them, so why bother?
'Why bother?' is my mantra lately when it comes to matter of ebay. I'm broken; I have, for the most part, stopped caring. I am many things in life but apathetic is rarely one of them. Until now.
So, thanks for the kick in the pants on my way out the door, ebay.

Also to be noted, if you happen to relist an item that ended several months ago they too may be missing their photos. Discovered this while listing an item that ended during the first week of May and was about to be poofed to a black hole somewhere on the Interweb. All other information appeared to be included. Would be nice as items are being removed from our lists if we could get a courtesy email advising us of this. Unfortunately once they are gone from eBay's retrievable memory banks, they are very much gone and its extremely difficult to monitor these occurrences if you were to have a large quantity of listings at any given time.

Holy cow! Who is this genius? If it's this simple to capture all my posted photos at the same time, why is it SO troublesome to find third-party software that transfers your ebay listings complete TO other sales platforms?

From B's help files:
Listings must be active on ebay.com (US version of the site) in order to use the importer function.
The importer will import the first four pictures that it can find associated with your item.
