Sales have been so bad this month that, honestly dont really care about any promos.

I'd have to say the same thing. It's been a brutal month, and I think what's needed is more buyers, not more promotions. I notice in the categories in which I sell that there is a spike in lower quality "stuff" as soon as a new promotion appears, which not only spreads the competition over a wider field, but makes it harder for the buyers that are out there to find what they want.
There have been an unusual number of listing promos over the past few months. Far more, it seems to me, than the entire previous year. The ones that I was completely flummoxed by were the 7-figure free listing promos. Honestly, what's the point of sending that sort of promo to everybody and his dog?
The promos generally don't do me a lot of good if they are less than 7 days long. Given that the announcement of them in my Summary page or inbox is generally a day or so late, and that I usually need 2 or 3 days to work up new listings, by that time I really get into gear the promo is often nearly over.
The recent one that really worked for me was the FP promo that lasted 2 weeks or more, if I recall, for a couple of thousand listings.
My biggest criticism of eBay's listing promos? Give us a day or two notice before they're set to begin. What does it matter when they're handing the promos out like candy anyway?
By the way, I notice that every time I relist an item now, I'm getting the "relist 3 times for free" message showing up. This is new too. This, together with the cluster of recent promos, says to me that eBay may be heading toward a no-fee listing system at some point.

"Anyone keeping track of them?"
Keeping track of what?
Sellers are listing all types of "stuff" flooding the site. Many of these listings would never be listed if sellers has to pay a token for the privilege of listing (as all sellers did in the good old days).
With more "stuff" for sale and fewer buyers visiting the site, the results are predictable. As always, a few sellers will buck the overall trend and do well. Good for them.

I do think Ebay should be doing more to promote buying on Ebay as things seem to be drying up or down for a lot of sellers. Haven't seen any tv or media ads put on by Ebay in a very long time. With the recent security password glitch I think Ebay should be doing more to win back buyer's confidence and do some advertising. Maybe a buy a certain amount, get a % off purchases on Ebay coupon promotion would also help.

I completely agree! I brought this question up at this week's Wed. board session, and I'm afraid I have to say the pat answer wasn't very reassuring, nor very plausible really. Like you, I can't recall seeing or hearing a peep from eBay on TV or radio in the last few months. See Post #18 on this thread (the reply by eBay staff to my question):

If you have a premium price store, extra FP listings are only .10 so you could list an extra 125 listings per month for $12.50. Even if you just sold one of those extra items that you wouldn't normally list, you would pay for that $12.50 and more so why not continually list them rather than doing so only during promotions?

PJ, I am a Scotsman. The old Scot expression "Auch!" means "My bar bill is too high".
eBay has done their metrics and have noticed that free attracts people like me, like fleas to rotting garbage. It has caused me to try different things. These different things work, much to my consternation.
Because I list on two sites, with different functionality, I need different approaches. Different approaches requires some level of coherent planning. Hence, my original question.

You're a hoot, Mr. E., I just about fell off my chair reading this! Are you sure you shouldn't be trying your hand at being a stand-up comedian?

I have been asked that before. I have said for years that I should write down the things that I say, or, burble out up out of the rotting mess.
BWWWIIIINNNGGG!! Away we go off topic again.

well Mr Elmwood, Im glad to hear at least some one is doing well. Promos are great when there is some business to be had. Unfortunately its not my case at this time.
I would like to see Ebay maybe try reinventing it self in the media. I do think for some if not for many, Ebay is a place of dishonest goods and service . Maybe Im wrong, but there seems to always be a bit of a joke when you hear someone in the media or just in conversation mention Ebay.
How would they reinvent them selves? I dont know, but I suppose they good mention such things as safe to shop, Ebay purchase guarantees, etc.

All good points, and I agree wholeheartedly. Actually, most of the time when I mention to people I meet that I have an eBay store, they sort of screw up their faces and give me a long look (these are Canadians, of course).
I don't think eBay has a great reputation here, and I've always thought they should spend more time and resources on weeding out evil-doers on this site than forever re-arranging the furniture (so to speak).

"wth free team crest&patches 56"?
I understand what your saying but I never intended on these words for the search. Given the amount of letters we can use in our header, I simply used it up what was left with additional information. Wont find it in a search but may entice.

But even Scotsman know that sometimes you have to spend money to make money 🙂

Ditto
And given my discovery today (see my post) about being charged to use the scheduling feature now vs before I had a store and it was free, any auction style promos are completely useless to me.
