Promoted charges and new changes on German site.

This was recently posted on the US board so for anyone who may utilize Promoted Listings and is interested in how it possibly may affect  ca/com sellers in the not to distant future. It is a long read already, but well worth the time and trying to digest. Only made me 🤢 to consider.

Quote from post:

"To be clear - this change only applies to the eBay.DE site for now but I wouldn't be surprised if this doesn't end up expanding at some point later this year, especially with the new Facebook Marketplace partnership."

It addresses how a listing either promoted or not promoted can still have promoted charges applied going forward in Germany by a basic random click.  This would be very concerning for a seller that does not promote ALL their items. Maybe just a small few.

It is important to consider what happens on 1 site can eventually trickle down on another, especially if it becomes a major money maker for eBay.

Note: At 1 point in time there were ways of checking if a listing sold by Direct or a Halo click. Now not sure if there is an easy way to do this. The assortment of variations based on this discussions and other ones in the past are mind bending. This is not a conspiracy. It has been happening.

Thanks Lotz.

eBay Germany is a surprisingly large platform. Biggest export by far are motor vehicles. Interesting that Trump hasn't ranted about tarriffs on Germany when the US is Germany's largest importer of vehicles at 36 billion/annually.Capture.JPG
