I just noticed that on a couple of items that I purchased that is the in the Actions bar under My eBay Purchases - the very first button to click is: "Return Item" and the second is: Contact Seller".
How long has it been like that?
How does this give the purchaser confidence? You can't even get to Feedback until you open the whole drop down menu.
Just how stupid are these people who generate this stuff? Do they think at all? They just don't get it.
This just begs the purchaser to think there may be a problem and immediately puts the seller on the defensive.

Sorry - should have read:" Purchased item Action Button"

Agree with you Ross, total nonsense, the way there coming up with this stuff!
Maybe if the rumor about them cutting 3000 jobs is true, they'll have a little less time to dream up this **bleep**!

I was just about to start a tread about this, but you have beat me to it.
I just can't believe it. I signed onto my buyer account, in .ca to leave feedback for an item I received today and the largest, highlighted button to the right of the item specifics is "Return This Item", underneath is a highlighted "Contact Seller".
I wish to emphasize, these are really large and very prominent toggles. They are basically pleading with you to return the item.
In order to leave feedback, you have to open the drop down menu. A neophyte buyer is never going to find this.
I checked on .com and they are even more prominent.
And, just to complete this wonderful change - after you leave feedback, the "return this item" button stays in place. Presumably for 45, 60, 90, 180(?) days.
And it just keeps getting better and better .....

Johnny Mercer singing Johnny Mercer. It's hard to beat that!
And, a perfect contrast: eBay verses accentuate the positive.
They really don't get it! They are entirely devoid of understanding.
The assumption on any transaction has to be; " we are sure that you are happy and satisfied with your purchase".
Anything less, is an admission that our methods (eBay's) are inadequate and because we really can't be sure, just return it - and try again.
How weak is that message!

I just checked under "my purchases" and off to the side either in first or second place I am still seeing the "leave feedback" option. Maybe I am talking apples and oranges here but not sure why mine would show up differently??

The only recent purchase I have is a purchase of 3 items from one seller. Here is what it looks like on .ca on my ebay
The view is slightly different on .com.
Why on earth do they have 'return this item' so prominent?

Interesting how we are getting different views.
I can suggest a number of reasons that this may be occurring, most of which are temporal. But, as I saw what you have reproduced above (on .ca) until yesterday, I believe that soon this change will be site wide.
Another possibility is the seller's policy may be not to accept returns. So, that option is not offered.
On the ca site, my "My eBay" landing page is now completely different than yours. It is similar, though not the same as the .com results you are displaying above. The "Leave Feedback" toggle has completely disappeared. Replaced with "Return this Item". Leave Feedback could only be accessed from the drop down menu.
On .com, your results above are closer to mine, but again different, as I described in a post above.
I'd like to provide you with a screen shot, but I left feedback already on the only purchase that I had outstanding. But, once again, note that the "Return this Item" toggle on .ca, button on .com remains as the first option, even after you have left feedback.
