Sales are almost non existent on new ID

I had to set up a new ID for selling in Canadian Funds as my main ID is in USD.  Just as I was typing this, I got my first sale.

Have you ever set up a new ID and how long did it take you to get it going?  I sell as musicyouneed and musicyouneed2.

Up until 2012 I used only one selling ID (the one I use to post here), this was at a time when free listing promotions were just starting. I was tired of not getting any listing promos while other people seemed to get them all the time. Tjios lead me to start a few alternate selling id's which as I hoped were getting all the free listing promos.

It took me the minimum time to move from "new seller status" to get past the payment holds and selling limits and by that time (90 days) the new id was outselling the old shooting star ID. Over time I moved all my good listings to the newer id's and to this day only use the original one for dead items (and the results prove just how dead they are).

For every buyer who won't buy from a new / low feedback seller there is a buyer who won't buy from a "big" seller with too much feedback.

While eBay MIGHT give a little Best Match bump to an established seller it's probably way down near the bottom of the (100's?) factor that go into Best Match ranking.

Sadly, one of the perils with starting fresh after building up a following after so many years of selling on eBay.

On the flipside I haven't changed names and in 4 months of MP my sales have dropped by 66% and traffic has taken a nosedive. This is with having more listings/variety than I've ever had in over 15 years of selling on eBay. I'm up to 5 transactions for July.  11 for June. 10 for April. Many Canadian/US sellers are reporting similar experiences/drops.

Is it sellers no longer buying because of not having a running avaialble balance, wayyyyy too many listings to scroll through or just how search is now working or not working? 1.3 Million dollar CDN question!!! I'm going with yes.

Forgot to add.....

On your old main id you have almost 2000 listings, on the new one 61, if there is any reason why you are not getting much action on the new id is because you only have 3% of the number of listings.

Also don't know how you decided what to list on the new id, maybe the new id has the items of lesser interest. Plus you've only been operating the new id for a few weeks so about half those listrings have only been up for half that time or less.

Yes, only have 61, just started listing last month,  had a 100 limit now increased to 175.   I am trying to list mostly CDN, UK artists on .ca on this ID.  I find that US buyers in my genre, want to buy listings listed in US $ so I will continue to list on .com for them.  It is just a slow process.

Isn't it funny soon as I complain about slow sales, I got another one.

To be clear, you know you can list in either currency with the same ID, right?

You can list on dotCOM with @musicyouneed2  even if it is registered in Canada, and when you do that listing will be in USD.

And as musicyouneed/Original Flavor you can list on dotCA in loonies, even though that ID is registered in Canada.

And either ID can list on the German, or the French, or the UK, or the Aussie site-- as long as you use the currency of the site.

I assume you do, but these threads are also read by newbies.

Hi yes I do know I can list on both .com and .ca under both names.  Right now, any sales on musicyouneed are converted to US $ and deposited to my US account.  I set up musicyouneed2, to get also get paid in Canadian funds.  There is a method to my madness.   With musicyouneed, I will only list in USD and musicyouneed2 only list in Cdn $.

The sale I made today was to a Canadian and it was the Doors CD.  I sent him an email stating I saw The Doors  when they came to Vancouver on July 13, 1968 and sent him a photo of my tickets.  He was impressed and stated he wasn't born until 1974.
