What do you think of this?
Let me begin by noting this item isn't in the Product Catalogue and that all the Item Specifics with it were created by me specifically for the item itself.
Pay particular attention to the heading Product Identifiers and the (deliberately) misspelled character's name to identify this type of prohibited practise.
Also, the Item Description which I wrote because as an original piece of work right down to the joke about wild hair, as you might have guessed, I was a writer by profession. I cite my sources.
Also the paragraph that begins TEXT AND IMAGES ARE COPYRIGHT! No permission is granted to utilize our photographs and/or descriptions to provide some context into the problem.
I would like to take this opportunity to note that one cannot merely 'report' this as we once could. That option has been removed from the drop-down menu. One is directed to http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/image-text.html where the injured party is encouraged to ask the perpetrator to cease and desist.

My post was edited to remove the other one, the offending listing.
But my smiley face problem remains.

Can anyone explain how I won smiley-face-embedded-in-my-hyperlink lottery? Is it some kind of inside joke for programmers? It somewhat reduces my credibility on this topic to walk into this discussion wearing clown shoes.

This one also has a bunch of stuff after the item number. Also found when i go into my own Items for Sale. I'm worried about what emotion will surface after I hit 'post'. Can someone explain? Or try to replicate with their own?

If you look at the full URL, near the end there is a part with a colon and an O that is the cause for the emoticon.
item35f3025a79:g: OmIAAOSw42JWEUTq [I added a space so it wouldn't actually create the emoticon.]
Notice in the second link, the colon is followed by a J, which is not used as an emoticon, so nothing shows up.

As for why it's creating the emoticon when that specific part of the link isn't actually being shown in the message...who knows.

:smiley surprised: So....it's merely one of those strange coincidences that it magically appeared at the end of a listing I posted to complain that someone was stealing listing details from me? I guess that's a little bit funny.

See?! I can't use an emoticon to save my life. I'm so lame! Call the 1980s. I want my life back.

Following ebay's new advice on how to resolve this without reporting it to them, I contacted the seller responsible for the listing violation. The title and Item Description have since been changed but the person didn't think to check or alter any of the custom Item Specifics.
I suppose I should let that go but I really have to wonder as to the reason another seller wants to publish a listing with my member ID stated in it.

If they were too lazy to write their own specifics and description then they were probably too lazy to read all of your description and don't realize that your id is mentioned.
