I have just realized that I have been enrolled in eBay International Shipping without being notified. Not sure how long I have been enrolled, but last time I made listings I did not see the information in 'create a listing'. I see it today. I just looked and last made listings just over 3 weeks ago, so sometime between then and now.
I looked back and can't find an email saying I have been enrolled. There is one from August 25 saying to watch for EIS. Got an odd email saying to 'Take Action To Avoid Restrictions On My Account' on September 10. Then privileges were restored on the 11th. I have no idea what that was about, nor does the person from eBay I spoke to. I was just told not to worry about it as restored.
Maybe this is what has been going on. Ever since the end of the Nationwide strike, I have been very slow. I sold more during and previous the strike and more in the summer letting my listings dwindle. This is usually the busy time of year for what I sell. I have been trying to figure out why sales are so slow, and yes there can be a number of reason, many of which would apply at this time.
When I first noticed the slow down, I looked through some other sellers FB. I know it wasn't just me as one in particular who had 8,500 listings, 3/4's of which are the same as I sell only had a half a page of feedback left for buyers (auto FB set on) in 8 days that said 'PAST MONTH'. I had sold more during those 8 days.
Has anyone else noticed this? Is there a link? Are my items being shown overseas more instead of here? Has eBay been costing me very important money?
I have opted out. Although it says something about not applying to listings that were already commited when enrolled, I do not know what that means, anyone? Are those the new listings I made today? Do I have to end and remake them? Please tell me it is not the 925 that were previously made.
EIS does not apply for what I mainly sell. I remember seeing US listings with global shipping and could never understand why sellers used it as the shipping costs were 40.00 and up. And they can track to us for letter mail prices... Doesn't eBay get that they are likely losing money in some cases? I looked in to what the cost to ship to various locations on one of my listings, and I don't know why anyone would pay that for what I sell.
Maybe it is just best these days to list on multiple marketplaces... Time to look in to it I suppose. Any suggestions?
Edit: I am also wondering why my Expedited Light Costs are out to lunch when I make them? I also noticed this a few weeks ago on a listing I made and it started at $15.50ish and went up (this is shipped to myself :/), I switched to 'Free Shipping'. I am guessing there is a link there as still high like that when I made listings today.

I recieved notifications from eBay on September 1st, seperate messages for each of my selling accounts. The notification included details about the EIS service and also a link to Opt-out.
eBay activated the program in early October and have been gradually adding sellers (those that didn't opt out).

For Lite prices being high on listings, some had their preferences for 'shipping discount settings' changed to show standard without discounts to buyers. Check if this is the case for you here: https://www.ebay.ca/ship/prf/carrier

You may be.

Like @recped I received a similar email on 1 September, but I also got an email on 21 October about the enrollment:
You have been automatically enrolled into eBay International Shipping

You've been enrolled in eBay International Shipping, which simplifies international selling by handling customs, taxes, and returns for eligible listings, with no need to take additional action beyond creating your listings.

Thank you for your response. I looked again earlier and also recieved this email. The last sentence in the first paragraph says that sellers will be notified when fully enrolled.
I was never notified.

Thank you for your response. I saw this setting earlier and wondered, but I never changed it. How do these things get changed? Thanks, I will change that.

Thanks for your response. I looked back again earlier and see the first email. I never received the second you mention.

I opted out when I received the email in early September. I did the zoom call thingy with a expert later that month. First batch of 25. To date if I wanted to no option to opt in in settings.
Today a received an email and a survey for plans to join eIS...or not join. Included was an invite to a group zoom call "eBay International Shipping Canada 101" Nov. 18, 2025. 1 hr long. Check your emails to see if you received if interested.

Ditto here, @lotzofuniquegoodies . I immediately rechecked my shipping preferences to confirm that I had not been quietly re-opted into EIS without consent.
My original reason for opting out was the absurd cost to "quickly", "safely", and "dependably" ship from deep in the Canadian Foothills to the Mississauga Hub, and expect the total EIS shipping cost will be an option International Buyers - especially stateside - will routinely spring for...more likely, just greeted by derisive guffaws.
Nevertheless, I will watch that webinar with interest plus an open mind, just in case. Thanks for the reminder and link.

I also opted out in September, have no "opt in button" not that I want to, and I also got the email about the webinar and survey thing (havent read it yet maybe this weekend lol)

In Canada... don't you have to Opt-In by law?

As I posted on another thread, you may be thinking of the regulations for the use of negative option billing. Negative option billing is something that got cable television providers in hot water in the ‘80s.
eIS is a free service being offered to sellers, so what’s going on here can’t be called negative option billing.
