I am a long time e-bay member , I sell and buy , but don't have a store. In general, I used to have a good experience , have gone out of my way several times to accommodate my sellers and buyers. So, you can imagine my surprise, when a seller I contacted about buying some of his books refused to combine shipping .I didn't want 1 or 2 books, I wanted to buy 4 from his store , all at the same time with an invoice to pay with pay pal. I do understand it is a personal choice to combine or not but with many other sides offering on line shopping , from Kijiji to Amazon , one would think to make your potential buyer happy would be priority. I guess. not anymore.

Sometimes a seller may have his books at different locations... different cities...
Combined shipping is not possible...
Just might be a drop shipper..

All his books are listed from the same location. If the amount for shipping exceeds value of the book shouldn't one be more flexible or abandon worldwide shipping altogether. All I am saying is :it smells like trying to make an extra buck on shipping.

Is the seller in the USA? Is he using the Global Shipping Program?
If he is, he actually can't combine shipping for you. The GSP doesn't allow it.
So.
If he wants your purchase, he should make a private listing for you (Using your name as the title is the simplest way to make it private), combining shipping and using First Class International shipping by USPS.
NOT GPS.
Let him know that FCI is Delivery Confirmed to Canada and carries up to 4lbs worth of goods.
If the bulky parcel is over $20 in value, there is a chance that you will be charged duty, sales tax, and a $9.95 Canada Post service fee before your purchase is released. But that may not happen and you will probably have saved something on the shipping cost.

It only specifies that it is standard international shipping and a fee required. He was given my US address ( which is on my file and I use it frequently with all US sellers-I live in boarder city) to make things easier. Go figure...Just lost a customer 🙂

If the seller is using the Global Shipping Program, the listing will have this note:
This item will be shipped through the Global Shipping Program and includes international tracking.
The US address might not help. If you don't have a US Paypal account, which requires a US bank account (not a Canadian bank account in US dollars, it has to be an American bank), your Canadian Paypal account will only show your Canadian address. Sellers are cautioned about shipping to non-Paypal addresses.
Or the seller may be too paranoid, xenophobic or lazy to accept a firm sale. Go figure.
