To answer your question directly, I do not know "what sells well on eBay these days".
However, I do not think that painting listed with "Starting at a Modest opening..." of US$ 4,700,000.00 do sell well, even with "free shipping"..
I frankly do not know of any serious collector with that kind of money who would make such purchase on eBay and pay for the painting prior to seeing it and having it properly authenticated.
Good Luck.

Everything sells providing there are excellent pictures, well written description, etc. The profit aspect is up to the seller.
There is a very large difference between listing and selling.

Thanks for input ,at the same time ive re-listed an item 3 times before someone bid and 4 more bidders got involved -seeing the price soar 8 times its listing price . Just getting back into selling ,from past experience of selling 10,000 decoys --some people buy for all kinds of reasons ,and some hire an appraiser to buy their Art their interested in ,especially when Decoys are selling for 100,000 and 1,000,000 . Its a great hobby ,thanks for input.

And after I picked myself up off the floor.....
There are so many questions... and too little information in the listing.
Authentication??? Certified original to the artist indicated.
Provenance.... Where did it come from?... How did you get it?
I sold the Encyclopedia of Ukraine for $400 and put more in that listing than there is present in this listing.. for 4.7 million
How do you ship something worth 4.7 million.... Personal delivery.......perhaps
High price... high quality artwork on eBay.... Can someone visit and see it in person?
I go to many local auction sales...... and my brain goes upside down when artwork sells for $25,000 or when a double cylinder gas bowser ... (A double cylinder bowser is unique to Canada).... sells for $15,000... but then the buyer has seen the item personally...
I buy what I like, and what I have viewed in person.
-------------------------------------------------------------
It was about three years ago that I went to a local art auction.
There was one painting at the back of the room that caught my eye.... It was unique ... special.... and had a great image... by an Italian artist...
and.. when it started at $3.000.... four telephone bids... and three in the audience...
With $1,000 increments it quickly sold for $13,000 no flinching on the part of anyone....including me..... because I viewed it in person....

... "from past experience of selling 10,000 decoys..."
Many years ago I helped a local collector, the late Paul Kelly, sell hundreds of duck decoys on eBay. Did you know him?

Check for photos that are out of focus.... $1.3 million dollar listing

Its been a great hobby ....getting used to new camera .

The Painter of The painters ,Universally acknowledged as one of the Worlds Greatest Artists . The Art of Decoupage came to China during the 12 Century ,while it .wasn't until the 17 century this came to the Far East and worked its way into Europe . Signed and dated 1829 , the one of 1683 is valued at Aprox $7 million dollars .
So, this is an 1829 decoupage copy from an unknown craftsman of a 1683 original, and made in China?

Thanks for comments ....the nice part about auctions is when the serious collector spots an item their interested in ,they bid, have shipped aprox 780 artifacts with no one requesting a refund ! Years ago ....bought a Fishing Lure at local auction for $12.00 ,started it off at $35.00 ....it sold for $1,800 ,10 days later ,when collector got it ,he wrote back stated he would give me $1,500 for the box if I could find it ......Always nice to find serious collectors that know what their looking at .....The trouble is Rare items are Rare Items, they don't come along that often .

Looking at your past sales and feedback, I don't understand how you got your selling limit high enough to list multi million dollar listing prices!?
11-14-2014 12:23 PM
73rhc ....its quite simple really ,over the years have talked to a lot of vetern collectors. Now that their down-sizing ,these same people have bought high end artifacts back 50 years ago, have sold them to me at 50--60 year old prices ,some time ago .In a lot of cases ive listed them here at 10% of their value ,hoping they would rise in value-sometimes they do ,and other times ive ended up shipping these to major auction house in city ,after they don't sell here. They always sell their.Thats the way Auctions go,what don't sell in one area, sells in another .........Its all about the right people looking at the time your listing ........Sometimes you stumble on a Bargain out at the country auction ..........Hope you have some luck blazing trails .

ducks: You can't be serious?
For example: You have something listed which was supposedly painted by Richie Havens.
The signature looks really funky....... but even if it's on the up and up, Havens was a musician who dabbled in art.
You're selling something with a Havens signature (?????) for just under 2 million dollars.
The signature looks nothing like the real thing.
Seriously?
You could be in for some hefty final value fees if some buyer starts toying with you the way you're trying to toy with them.

FVF are set at a maximum for auctions and for store inventory.
Auctions was recently raise to $750... I believe.
Store inventory is a maximum of $250.

We should look back and see how that Superman comic sold for 3.2 million on eBay...
The comic was graded in almost perfect condition... was stored in a cedar chest for years....
Perfection and graded by a very reputable group... and the comic sold for a top price....
One should also assume that all of the important collectors were notified of how ... and when....the comic was to be sold
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
OP is looking for a selling venue with low fees...... and it would appear to be so on eBay .....with the expensive artwork.
Or eBay is a way to get exposure.... and see how things might be.... and the buyers are lining up .....
I would like to see a lot more information in a listing....... already indicated by me in an earlier reply.

I don't think you understood my question. All sellers have selling limits on eBay. For example, mine are 180 items or $5000 per month. How can you list multiple items in the million dollar range???

cumos: The point is.......... the Havens painting is just one item I pulled out to look at more closely.
The signature is all wrong at a glance, but even if it s an authentic Havens painting the value would be in the hundreds and not in the millions.
Less than the FVF in any case.

This has been a great hobby . holdmygold - You should be familiar with the subject matter,Just in case your in doubt ---Richie Havens Daughter has seen this, she doesn't have any concerns.Richie had a summer home near here. These were given to Auctioneer to sell.Shes well aware of it .....Some people ive dealth with have given me a signed blank cheque ,just in case I happen to come across what their looking for ..............More information is available to any serious buyer through item listing .
Holdmygold ....you should keep in mind Ebay Rules .

ducks: The signature could well be authentic. To me it looks nothing like his autograph but no one would forge Richie Havens signature on a piece of art.
It's celebrity art and the celebrity you're selling isn't even a big name.
It would appeal to a few collectors of Haven's memorabilia. Celebrity art sells in the hundreds when the celebrity is well known.
Not in the millions.
