When ebay's system screws up and we receive seller defects, why are they not being removed?

Ebay's system for checking tracking scan acceptance failed again (first scan date not available), presumably because they had an issue pulling the data from the carrier API due to the busy holiday period. All items have tracking, carrier shows scan date with handling time so I figure fine I'll just get the shipping defects removed as in the past as this has not been an issue but apparently they now ebay refuses to do this unless your account is below standard?

Why does ebay try to trot out polices that do nothing but demonstrate an abject lack of customer service for their sellers? This was something that was not an issue in the past to resolve and the fact that ebay has already automatically removed one points to the fact that this is an issue on their end.

Take responsibility for your substandard IT performance and take care of your sellers. It's not like we are asking for anything unreasonable.

It's all about fees. They can easily fix it to remove the defects on won cases but they won't because more defects equals more fees.
