When someone sends me a Best Offer that’s so low it’s insulting, it makes me want to...

... reply with a Counter Offer that’s higher than the actual asking price but that’s prohibited by an eBay error.

Boo.

Where’d that Auto-Decline button go? I thought I had it enabled....

Item is $68 on Markdown at present. Offer came in at $7. Should I counter at seven dollars less than original price? Or ignore? Straight decline?

So many choices, none of them as satisfactory as sticking a wet finger in their ear for their time and trouble.

Offline  I get offers for cash and trade at times.  Some are reasonable but at times they are ridiculous.   I would be embarrassed to even approach anyone with that kind of deal

Recently we had a item at  a Show and had another Dealer try it with us.  Had never met him before was out of our regular selling area and I guess his reasoning was I don't know them so they cannot know anything.

He wanted a Item we had,  looked at our booth and saw some items we had. Told me he had some and wanted to know if we would consider $75 plus trade.  The item we had was worth a few hundred dollars,  The 2 items he brought were interesting for what they were  but worth about $10 to $20 retail each. Tried his best to tell us they were worth a few hundred dollars a piece. I was not born yesterday (maybe the day before) and turned him down. He was not pleased but such is life

A few hours later a customer we know showed us two items he had bought for $15   Just chuckled there were the 2 items that were supposed to be worth a few hundred dollars

I very rarely trade but if I consider it I have to come out ahead. Makes no sense to do it if one does not. I already own the piece have paid for it and do not need to trade value for value or close to it. Usually it is for an item that may or may not  sell right away  but will down the road.   I am always upfront and tell them why. Some understand others don't.

I've been asked a couple of times to trade something on ebay..."I'll send you the blue wallet if you send me the red"  ummm....you want me to  pay for shipping to you and then end up with basically the same thing that I just sent out...then I'll have to take new pictures so that I can list it.

Sounds like a heck of a deal.

lol

Even if they paid for all shipping, it still wouldn't be worth my while to take new pictures and end up with the same amount of money.

I don't have a lot of Star Wars merchandise to hawk but I find Star Wars fans are the worst for offering tradesies. I feel a bit sorry for whomever it is that is asking because they are looking for something they cannot afford (collectibles are an addiction) but there's very little I would consider worth a trade and even if they had something I could resell, ebay is still no way to trade goods. I give them a boilerplate and polite no, saying it's against the rules here.

I've had a few jokers on kijiji offer me bottle caps or pogs or something dumb in exchange for goods of high value. Maybe pogs are high value too, I don't know anything about them. Nonetheless, I'm not looking for more things to sell: I want to get rid of what I have first.
