Worldwide shipping broken with new listing tool

Hi,

With the new listing creation tool, I can't create varying shipping costs anymore. When I try to create a worlwide shipping using dimensions and weight, whatever shipping service I select, it doesn't work.

When I preview the item and test the shipping options, I always end up getting "Shipping cost cannot be calculated. Please enter a valid Postal Code." for US zip codes and "This item will ship to <country>, but the seller has not specified shipping options. Contact the seller and request a shipping method to your location." for other countries.

Only fixed costs shipping seems to work and I can't create multiple shipping services. What am I doing wrong? Is there a way to edit my items using the old, advanced tool?

Thanks

Re: Worldwide shipping broken with new listing tool

I attended this new listing tool and got impression (may be a wrong one?) that it is applicable to listings under eBay.com and their system is not connected to Canadian postal info.

Re: Worldwide shipping broken with new listing tool

Well since the last time I sold on eBay (a few months ago), they enhenced the listing form a bit. It is more simple and touch friendly, but having issues with creating shipping details. I'm using the Canadian site (eBay.ca).

Re: Worldwide shipping broken with new listing tool

Yes, the new listing format is a bit of a problem when it comes to choosing a shipping method. But it is simpler for the overall listing (less pages to click around in). The problem with this new format is, (the way I see it), every time a seller chooses a shipping method and deviates from a previous method, that new method is created as a new business practice, or as a copy of a previous business practice, which can get really messy, on the business practices page. What you can't do with this new format is select a shipping method for which the seller has created as a business practice i.e. shipping plus handling. The new method will calculate shipping costs, with no added handling fee. If you wish to add a handling fee, (the only way I found is) to go to the business practices page and reassign shipping for those items which have been listed. It sounds confusing and it is, and it's a pain in the…, I kind of like to believe that eBay will fix this sooner rather than later.

For sellers who wish to use the old method of listing, as long as the seller has closed listings or current listings running that were listed in the old format, the old format can still be used when you select  "Relist" or "Sell similar" just remember to change the category for the listing, and to remove the 1st because you might end up listing into categories.

Re: Worldwide shipping broken with new listing tool

hey PJ, it's not really a new tool, it's just a new selling listing format. It is simpler, but it does not use existing business practices which the seller may have created, either for shipping or for returns. Its default return policy is either no returns, or 14 day returns. Of course all these can be rectified by the seller within their ("business practices" policies) page and it's a real hassle.

Re: Worldwide shipping broken with new listing tool

Thanks all for the explanations. When I do up a new listing I use the template from a similar current or previous listing so I guess that's why I see only the usual format.  I haven't started a new listing from scratch for a long time.

Re: Worldwide shipping broken with new listing tool

I just tried using "Sell Similar", and although the listing pages look like the old format, a lot of things have changed.

Occasionally when relisting/selling similar I'd pay the extra $1.00 to get the enlarged photo on the listing page, in order to generate interest on a stale item.  For some reason, when I tried the option to upgrade to a "Value Pack" (gallery plus enlarged pictures) this time, it wasn't shown as being available.  I just gave up and listed the item as it was previously.

I don't know whether this was an oversight, or a permanent change to the listing tool.  Does anyone know if the Value Pack been discontinued, or altered somehow?
