eBay.com or eBay.ca

Hi everybody, I just started selling on eBay today. After doing a bit of googling and some market research, it seems that I have 66% less competition on eBay.com and I offer shipping from USA for my item (I live in Canada, I go grocery shopping in the USA at Buffalo), which is a big advantage because everybody who sells my product ships from Canada.

Now my question is, if I post on eBay.ca, will my listing be seen on eBay.com? If not, then how can I post on eBay.com from Canada? And, I have tried to, change my location on eBay, but even then I still don't have the option to pick USPS Priority Mail as a shipping option, so I picked UPS 3 Day Select instead. Is this Allowed?

Re: eBay.com or eBay.ca

You can list on either, exposure is essentially the same (I'll concede for some items in some case there are advantages and/or disadvantages).

However, since you are shipping USPS from Buffalo if you list on .com you will be able to use the shipping calculator and use the specific USPS service names (first class, priority etc.).

If you only use "flat-rate shipping" with an unidentified service then it's no advantage. If on the other hand you think you can use the calculator then that alone is enough reason to list on .com.

Personally I would be listing on .com except that in my category (Media) there are shipping caps which don't apply on .ca so that's where I list. The shipping calculator is of no interest to me really and if I were to use it I would want it for Canada only.

I am starting to see a lot more Canadian buyers, I suppose it's theoretically possible I get better exposure to Canadians by listing on .ca but I somehow think that "exposure" is pretty meaningless for my stuff there are many much better explanations for more domestic buyers.

You don't want to do that, buyers don't like being told it's being shipped one way and then arriving via another carrier, In addition calculated won't be right nor the delivery estimates.
