eBay just started .ca categories - it's bad

How could they be so stupid.

eBay just started their .ca category buying experience

I tried to find my radios on .ca

Had to go to Collectible Radios -  then Tube Radios - but you cannot search there any more. You have to look in Tube Radio 1920-1930 and then a separate category for 1930-1940 and so on for five categories. Most buyers could care less when they were made

So now the buyer cannot search in Collectible  Tube Radios  - they have to make five (count em - 5) separate searches by date to find my radios, when this morning it was one search to find all Tube Radios. There are only ever about 150 Tube radios on in Canada at one time and now a buyer has to look in five (count em - 5) separate category searches to find them all.

Better check your listings.

There is still a tube radio category which can be searched so I’m not sure why you say it can’t be.  But I would think that it would make more sense if the categories were broken down so that there was a category just for an actual radio. Not w it looks like if I want to search for an actual tube radio I have to sift through the hundreds of listings for manuals, parts, photo facts etc.

Don't know where you are getting that from.  As of this writing there are exactly 163 tube radios listed in Canada.

Anyway a strange thing has happened - the five categories have disappeared.  It was there most of the day and now is gone. The page they were on was totally different. The the normal search for Canadian Tubes Radios is below

Collectibles

Radio, Phonograph, TV & Phone Collectibles

Collectible Radios

Collectible Tube Radios

Filter for Canada

The Collectibles Tube Radios in the five categories that I mentioned, were broken down into five boxes with the search date headers underneath - for example; Radios 1950 - 1960. The page was unlike any eBay page I have ever seen before - there was a lot of advertising at the top of the page, the whole left side was grey and full of categories and the entire layout was just different and now it is gone.

Makes me wonder if it was a trial run, cause it's going to happen, they told us that in the last Update.

Re: eBay just started .ca categories - it's bad

Grouped listings on eBay.com (the testing) killed all my sales for two weeks in February. eBay Canada Listings are not matched on eBay.com.

I predict that lean days are ahead for many if not most eBay Canada sellers. Look at alternatives to depending on income from eBay sales and do it fast. If you’re like me, there will be no sales until — or if — the Product Catalogue matches are properly done. If I knew what eBay was really planning to do with Grouped listings, I’d have had a plan. As it stands, my plan isn’t ready to be rolled out, I’m four to six months behind. I’m scrambling and in a bad place. It’s like having the gas line/street explode in front of your brick-and-mortar store. Maybe some businesses can withstand no customers for weeks or months and somehow stay open. And others cannot. I’m one who can’t. It’s not like a make piles of money because I surely do not but we do depend on what I do sell, to sell nothing for two weeks is a problem. Canadian sellers won’t understand the extent of this until Grouped listings hit their category for testing. And soon that testing will be done, and we’ll either be dealing with an improved situation, or the no-visibility Groupings will be the new reality.

Re: eBay just started .ca categories - it's bad

Maybe that is what has happened to my sales. Had a pretty good Feb but have sold nothing since the 25th which seems unusual. So that is a week tomorrow with no sales.

Was going to try another promoted listing campaign. I got an email from eBay the other day wondering if I was getting the most out of promoted listing and suggesting I needed to increase my ad rates as they were below average in come categories. Surprise surprise they are looking for more money!

In another post I had asked about closing my store when I go on a week's holiday but if sales are this slow won't matter one way or another. LOL Getting harder here all the time!!
