ebay is double-charging the fees with a new refund process

ebay has come up with a new refund process that could charge another fees.

I've made 3 sales from 3 different buyers.

one of them changed their mind and asked me to cancel the order which I did immediately.

Later, I've got the payout from 2 sales, but they deduct the money from cancelled sale which means they refund the money from my payout. I've never experienced this before MP.

I contacted ebay agent and she said, the cancelled sale's money will be deposited later. However, when I did the math, I'll be eventually loosing a little bit more than a dollar because there are fees involved when the money comes in and out, and the percentages are different. I wanted to ask more about the matter, but she just hung up.

So, obviously, it's not a good idea to cancel the order when there are multiple sales and payout is on the way. What other thing should I beware when I cancel the order from now on?

You will lose the non-refundable portion (30 cents)  of the ebay selling fee on the cancelled sale.

Are you dealing in different currencies (ie sell in US$, get paid in Cdn$)?

If so, you will have exchange rate differences to deal with.

Even though the buyer requested cancellation of the purchase? It's only in canadian currency.

I had cancelled an order before when buyer requested it and I didn't think I was charged anything at all.

In my case it was BEFORE the buyer had paid anything. My understanding (though I could be wrong) is that the fees/charges are not processed until the buyer pays. Had they already paid and changed their mind? If so I guess some fees are charged anyways. I would like to know the answer to this too!

I saw ybdcdennis mention the non-refundable portion and exchange (if applicable) but is this even before the buyer pays?

If he/she hasn't paid it would be better to just wait out the 4 days and cancel for non-payment. I've done that a few times and never saw any fees. Always something to learn here in the community!

Under MP there are no ebay fees charged until the Buyer pays.

An unpaid purchase has no fees if cancelled -- there is no money to be refunded since there was no money paid.

Thank you! That's what I thought! The seller questioning must have already been paid. Thanks for clarifying!

Regardless of who asked for the cancellation, if the buyer has already paid ebay does keep the .30 transaction fee just like Paypal did.   If your listing was on .ca and your payout is in $C, the .30 is the only amount that you would be out.
