What would everyone say is the top selling item(s) on ebay ?

Books,  Books, books and more books

On eBay.com the count as of today July 29 is

6.5 million books

6.0 million collectibles... a very large and most diverse group... mainly because everyone collects "something"

3.4 million sports memorabilia    ... with cards... all sports at about  2.0 million...

Simply on the basis of total counts on eBay... books have to classified as the most sellable.... 

if all categories have the same sell through percentage

And

... perhaps  .... books would also be the most popular

Top 3 categories are Home and garden, Auto parts + accessories, and clothing ,shoes and accesories

books music and video is 17th of the 21 major category divisions ebay reports, about 15% (and falling fast) of the value of the big categoreis

 The number listed is not the same as the number sold.

And the value of sales is not the same as the number sold.

Wouldn't you be better off trying to find a niche category that has some degree of popularity but doesn't have many listings on eBay?

I noticed today that the number of listings for Canadian Tire Money was waaaay down.
